At least a scandal a month
Things are so out of control for the GOP right now that they're finding it more and more difficult to come up with enough distractions to keep everyone looking the other way. And because their resources are starting to scatter, it's a good time for a new plan.

I say, since the online community here and throughout the blogosphere is now powerful enough, together with the meager resources of the "liberal media" and the organizations like MoveOn, that we press for at least a scandal a month from now until the end of the year. Even then, we will need to keep it up, because we will need to have a lot of people in power when the election comes in 2008.

Even if the scandal isn't a national one but a local one, we need to pound, over and over again, and local politicians are just as vulnerable as national ones.

I suggest we use the Research forum to add fuel to the fire. Even the most minuscule event, even the tiniest inference of impropriety, even a smidge of proof, should be examined by as many people as possible, and given credence and strength. Bring up suspicions, rumours and anything people hear along the way. We should scour local publications and small newspapers, newsletters and anything else we can think of. And the most important aspect will be follow-up. Once something is confirmed as true, even something small, we can get it to the press. We need to have a list of news organizations which are still either moderate or liberal, as well as those which still retain some semblance of objectivity. Once something is confirmed, press releases can go out to them, and see what happens.

If we can get it all working, we can handle several monthly scandals on local people and perhaps one major one. But if there are several brewing at the same time, we will need to decide which one is of the prime importance and shelve anything else to the next month, or until we have gotten one big one (or several small ones) out a month.

Is anyone interested in such a project? I obviously can't do it on my own, and there are already many of you here who are up to the task, but we really need to make it a coordinated effort to get maximum worth out of it.

If people are ready for such a massive project, please post here and recommend the thread to attract more DUers to the plan. I know many of us already belong to other organizations out there that send frequent email newsletters, but I haven't seen a truly concentrated effort to make sure all this shit hits the fan. Discovery of impropriety is one thing--getting it beyond our personal knowledge barriers is a whole other story.

And another thing. Regardless of how we feel about some Dems out there who have proven to be Dinos, we need to support them. Every single one of them works toward the final count in Congress, and every single one of them means another point toward majority. We might think they're Dinos, but ultimately, they are still part of the party, and on full counts, they will grudgingly vote with their own party.

Are we ready for some serious work on our part? Some people are ideally suited for the Discovery end, and some people are excellently prepared for the Research side. And as we go along, we will need more and more people to do the Reveal part. It's only by being part of a larger group that we will see results to our findings.
