Thank Heaven for little girls

My little girl, the one you guys helped us find after Katrina, will spend Easter morning, only seven months after the storm, at Easter service with the Reverend Joseph Lowey officiating. That’s the closest I can get her, spiritually, to Martin King.

She has been to Crawford before. She was there on day three.; before we had a kitchen; before we had a toilet. Before the nation and the world knew we were there.

She was there.

My little girl, the one you guys loved when you didn’t know her, saw Rev. Lowery speak recently in Atlanta. And she made herself known:



My little girl, a lover of cats and dogs, of people and God, is a hero to her mom and me.

I got angry at a local political issue, lead a 4 months daily protest movement, changed my town's charter with a lot of signatures and a lot of help by like minded people and caused an election to be held that changed the face of at least one town board here in my town. It involved the schools, so I got a permit and allowed the kids to have their own "kids parade". We didn't call it a protest march, but a parade of support for the wronged person. Some parents got ticked ... kids shouldn't be doing that, they said. I stood my ground because I believed then, as I do now, that the only way to learn that you have a voice is to use it. It was a good turn out for our living civics lesson. I was pleased.

You have done well by your sweetie there. She IS our future!
