New Mexico Absentee ballots were sent out 1/2/04

The last day to request an absentee ballot was 1/20/04 and they had to be in by 1/26/04. The vast majority of the absentee ballots were most likely already sent back in before the Iowa caucuses. So, how was Dean polling in NM before Iowa? That should be a pretty good indicator of what percentage of those absentee ballots are for Dean. It's a very strong possibility that Dean might just win NM.

edited to ass (um, make that ADD the link...lol) the link:

3. I don't think there was any polling data then but I believe Dean and Clark
Were the only game in town. They were the only two running ad's at the time. Our phone calling to absentee voters showed a very high number for Clark. I would say Dean was right there but we were not asking if they voted for Dean. I think Kerry may even come in third here and get a big surprise!

4. There's no way I can see Kerry winning New Mexico.
But then I said that about Iowa, too...

I live in Colorado and visit NM once a year or so--most of the people in NM would probably think Kerry was a martian or something.
