No
He got there because people VOTED for him.

He's polling well because people are CHOOSING him.

4. Of course.
Suspicious is putting it mildly.

But push polling, robo-calling, back-door dealing and establishment ties and connections can make miracles happen.

Step in line. Vote John Kerry.

14. If Kerry were in fact guilty of all these things
and Dean couldn't overcome that, how could Dean possibly have a chance against a Rove machine that will be considerably dirtier? Think about that. BTW, I'm no more suspicious of Kerry's rise than I am of Dean's rise before that. People seem to have forgotten Kerry was the front-runner before Dean. Voters are giving him a second look.

10. Anyone suspicious of why the media muted him for most of last year
and declared his candidacy dead for months? All the while they kept propping up Dean and selling him as the face of the Democratic party and ignoring other candidates like Edwards and Kucinich.

Thankfully, the people who voted didn't buy the media spin, and I find THAT refreshing and hopeful.

20. I agree
these threads are getting tiresome. Being the front-runner (Dean) before a single vote is actually cast means absolutely nothing.

17. I am.
I have no doubt that the media could find a clip of Kerry doing or saying something a little unusual, hype it up as insane and unpresidential, show it a thousand times, and destroy his candidacy. They could do that to anyone but they chose to do it to Howard Dean.

surprise.

Of course, they spun it to fit the latest WH directive.

25. I'm not suspicious . ..
But I am worried about the repercussions that are gonna occur when people start to really focus on Kerry if he gets the nod.

I'm not saying he can't survive it, but I am worried about it. I say bring out all the trash now and see if he survives it - - and it looks like this is starting to happen.

The Powers-That-Be set Dean up for an early fall. As soon as the knives were out for Dean, Kerry got "The Big Mo" as a matter of course -- Clark is still too much of an unknown, and Edwards still has a base of support restricted to the South.

Don't worry about a thing, Kerry will be laid low very shortly. The Press wants to send at least 2, and possibly all 4 of the front-runners to the Democratic Convention as damaged goods.

The Press wants the drama only lies can create. I think it's gonna get ugly. The idea may be to turn the voters off with a mudstorm, suppressing voting turnout and handing the election to Bush.

By the way, I like all the candidates -- all except Joe Lieberman, but I don't hate him, either.

33. Not suspicious exactly, but interested and curious
Kerry went into Iowa not a winner and came out of Iowa a winner. You could say that voters liked him and voted for him and this would be true, but only part of the truth. What the hell happened to Gephardt? Why did the working class vote split itself in three instead of two? Iowa changed everything for everybody - it is the pivotal event in this race. I was saying on an earlier thread I'd probably have to wait for the books to be written about this race before I understand how it all shook out in Iowa.

36. Looks to me like the media is deciding who the Democratic
nominee will be. They had a ton of lies about Dean. Now their mantra is "vote for someone who can beat Bush". If the Democrats were really an opposition party, the donkey could win this year without any TV ads.
