Senator Maria Cantwell (Washington) Endorses Kerry
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 08:16 PM by Nicholas_J
As well as Washington Representatives Reps. Jay Inslee and Brian Baird Endorse Kerry:

Cantwell, Locke endorse Kerry for president

02/02/2004

By MATTHEW DALY / Associated Press

Sen. Maria Cantwell and two other Democratic members of Congress from Washington state endorsed John Kerry on Monday, as the Massachusetts senator continued to pick up steam in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The endorsements by Cantwell and Reps. Jay Inslee and Brian Baird followed announcements over the weekend by Gov. Gary Locke and Reps. Norm Dicks and Rick Larsen that they, too, are backing Kerry.

Cantwell will chair Kerry's campaign in the state along with Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., who has long supported Kerry.

3. I sure hope we hold the WA Governor's seat, then
We are favored there, but I'd hate to see us lose two Senate seats that we didn't have to.

4. Is Gary Locke's endorsement a good thing?
Given Gary Locke's frightening corruption, will his endorsement really help Kerry? What chance would Locke himself have of getting re-elected if he ran again?

6. That's True, Too
Washington State is going to be something of a wild card in this election, because it's very liberal and therefore anti-Bush (although there's a sizeable conservative minority), but the corruption and propaganda are so terribly extensive, I fear King County Democrats will try to steer the public towards a candidate who's a corporate operative. That's why these endorsements are so disturbing, especially Gary Locke's. They should be setting off alarm bells.

8. Maria Cantwell disappointed me when she returned from Iraq....
...reading the same exact talking points that FAUX News was using. She's a PNAC wannabe. No surprise she backs the PNAC candidate.

Neocon shitbags can stay the fuck out of Washington state. Cascadia is sounding like a better idea all the time.

9. Maria Cantwell's Money
Maria Cantwell used her personal fortune to get elected. She spent an enormous sum of money, then I believe she lost another chunk due to something or other - maybe the bursting of the dot.com bubble. Anyway, she and Hillary Clinton went on tour to raise money to recoup Cantwell's financial losses. I thought that was beyond tacky.

11. A senator endorsing another senator? I am shocked, just shocked!
And a member of the DLC, you say? Now I am in awe, absolute awe.

Why hasn't Ted Kennedy said anything yet? Bill Clinton? Come on, guys. Show your stuff. Let's make it interesting.

13. I missed that. Thanks for the info.
Damn, I respect Ted Kennedy. Hmm ... I'll put that in the "fellow Senator" column.
