So when (if ever) will bush's numbers slip into the twenties?
I say the combination of spiking gas prices, along with the DeLay and related corruption cases, another couple of likely bush missteps in public (petulant ranty or inarticulate showings), and the public perception that he was the origins of the Plame Leak... but at the time feigned public outrage, and public fidelty to getting to the bottom of the problem (I think this will leave the public thinking of him as tricky dick)... I say mid to late April... Bush approval at 29%... Other guesses?

1. The terminally stupid are about 30% of us
so I doubt his numbers will dip below that. They might if he manages to outrage enough of them and make support socially unacceptable, but I doubt that will happen.

By terminally stupid, I mean his hardcore supporters combined with people who say they approve only because they recognize the name. There are probably more of the latter than there are of the former.

8. But you could also take into account
the number of people that will change their minds and "disapprove" even though they couldn't pick him out of a line-up just because everyone else disapproves.

3. This revelation *will* have some impact.
But there are any number of estimates of the die-hards, those who would continue to support * even if there were actual video of him eating babies, kittens, and puppies alive.

If somebody were to do a concensus of these estimates, they'd probably come up with a number in the 25-28% range. As his poll numbers approach this level, the numbers will begin to stabilize.

6. think 3.50 gas for a month or two might shake some of those #s down?
I think there is a point when the pocket book is hit too hard, and already the psychic toll is high from all of the contortions having to be done to rationalize accepting all of the crazy rhetoric just begins to cave and grow cynical.

9. Now that's just not fair!
You can see that Bush is trying his damnedest to do just that, but he's been an underachiever all his life. Why, oh why, must you libruls expect him to do the impossible? He can't possibly dip into the 20s on his approval rating until May at the earliest!
