2. That is amazing news!
Can I do the Snoopy happy dance yet or will the Neocons, the Republican faithful and the lapdog corporate media let him off the hook for this treasonous and cowardly act?

5. Schuster said Il Dunce and Cheney aren't in trouble - yet.
And the wh is stonewalling, not issuing any comments. They're perfecting their spin. :eyes:

3. Wonder what impact this will have...
I'm not at all surprised that this news would come out BUT, wasn't one of the questions being pondered concern whether or not the right of the President to declassify materials extended to the Vice-President, and could this be a reason for an attempt to lay this at the doorstep of Dumbya?

who outed Plame. Now we find out he did? More proof they're a pack of lying crooks imo.

4. Bloomberg story.

Bush Approved Leak of Iraq Arms Intelligence, Libby Testified

April 6 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush authorized disclosure of classified information on Iraq's weapons program to rebut war critics, a former top administration aide told a grand jury, according to documents filed in federal court.

The documents don't allege the president approved the identification of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame, although they were filed in connection with the investigation into who leaked the operative's name to reporters in 2003. The court filing by special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald also doesn't suggest Bush violated any rule or law governing the handling of classified material.

The document described federal grand jury testimony by I. Lewis Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, who was indicted last October of charges of perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to FBI investigators probing the Plame case.

In the filing, Fitzgerald describes Libby's testimony about disclosure to former New York Times reporter Judy Miller of a 2002 National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq's pursuit of nuclear materials

7. If the paperwork in the filing says Libby said Bush leaked, then what

happens with prosecuting anyone else or putting the squeeze on Cheney? Doesn't this hurt Fitz now that the 'cat is out of the bag'? Who will feel the pressure to cooperate with him now that they think he knows Bush was behind this the whole time?

I doubt squeezing Cheney would have led to anything on Chimpy, anyway.

15. This is good .... and as to Libby geting off the hook .......
I don't think this helps or hurts Libby. He's not charged with leaking ..... he's charged with lying. And the underlying facts in the larger case don't even go to that issue.

Nope, this is a double whammy ..... the newz is out that Presdident Shitbird is his own leaker and - by inference, he lied about wanting to get to the botom of the story - Libby is still looking guilty and may be convicted.

Fitz is pretty good at squeezing the nuts of evil men.

"...The documents don't allege the president approved the identification of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame, although they were filed in connection with the investigation into who leaked the operative's name to reporters in 2003."

Although I believe the Chicken-in-Chief probably did.

This should prove to be very entertaining.

22. Even if the documents don't specifically say "Valerie Plame..."
that's what the case is about, and the new info seems to center on Scooter's conversation with Miller (and Bob Woodward)...

"...Cheney told him to pass on information and that it was Bush who authorized the disclosure, the court papers say. According to the documents, the authorization led to the July 8, 2003, conversation between Libby and New York Times reporter Judith Miller."

It flies in the face of their denials of any involvement in any leaks.

18. Many many thanks go out to Patrick Fitzgerald and his relentless
work and bull dog approach. I don't know who could have done it better other than perhaps Eliot Spitzer.

How is the gang gonna wiggle out of this one?
