1. Thanks, mom! Everyone please read this
Great article that puts it all in perspective.

This is a great tool to help Dem activists become just as knowledgeable about health care reform as they are about Iraq and other issues.

3. Paul Krugman is almost always right on the money IMO
Just like all Bush policies, he treats the health care issue as a way to make his wealthy friends wealthier, rather than as a way to address an important social problem.

Very important article, thank you.

4. Health-care is an issue that has to be addressed and solved now
.......single pay seems to be the only feasible and fair option.

11. Those are two reasons why it has not been implimented:
it is feasible and it is fair!

10. Thanks. I missed it then. I knew it was old, but wondered if anyone had
put it up when it was new. I am glad that they did.

7. The health care issue must be reaching a tipping point.
With companies like General Motors hanging on by a thread because of the cost of providing health care for their employees and retirees, plus the 45+ million uninsured (moi included), it would make good business sense to put a single payer, government plan in place.

8. It is
with the growing number of uninsured combined with higher costs for health care, treatments, etc. doctors and hospitals can no longer handle the growing number of people needing free care. The US health care system is on the verge of a meltdown.

16. Hmmmm - the Canadian "bailout" has worked
well for decades . . . as has the British "bailout," "the Japanese "bailout," the French "bailout," the Costa Rican "bailout" . . . need I go on? Unless we adopt universal healthcare, our businesses cannot compete on the world market with countries that provide it.

15. Republicans think that growing demand lowers prices..
they never remember this is only true for cases in which the supply is growing as well. Who cares that the babyboomers are getting older, that the demand for medicine is far out-pacing the supply, or that only the very rich can now afford problems like cancer, diabetes, or to get heart disease? Of course only taxandspend Democrats, government waste, and liberalism cause inflation!

If Medicare covered everyone, maybe it would younger voters a better reason to pay more in payroll taxes to keep Medicare solvent for the babyboomers. But another thing national healthcare can do is using public tax dollars to increase the supply of doctors, nurses, and medication. Yet this could only be a waste of tax dollars...after all isn't fighting the war in Iraq needed for stopping terrorists, while lowering inflation and gas prices?

13. There's no health care crisis.
If there were one, Lou Dobbs, Champion of the Middle Class, would be talking about it every show. I haven't heard a peep from him about it.
