If asked, candidates should DENOUNCE CBS for Halftime show
I know it may sound trite, but i can already see O'Reilly on tonite's show screaming about how "liberals" allow this sort of thing to be broadcast into people's homes. He will blame the "liberals", instead of the greedy corporate TV execs, for this behavior. He, and other repugs, will try to turn it into a cultural war between the mainstream and the "elitists". This will be one of the tactics used for the November election.
Well, i think whether you are a liberal or not we can all agree that the halftime production was typical over-the-top garbage whose sole purpose was to shock and stir controversy.
Don't fall into the freedom of speech battle cry. This had nothing to do with that. It was simply titilation aimed at the lowest common denominator. Drunk neanderthals drving their Hummers to McDonald's to pick up a Janet Jackson bobble-titty doll.

4. Who Cares?
Nudity is no big deal in Europe. Why are we so uptight? Personally I find violence a lot more offensive.

5. Americans are more upset about a nipple
than they are about 526 dead and 2,962 wounded GIs in Iraq. We should also consider the 98 "coalition" dead, and the 10,000 dead and wounded Iraqis. The dead and wounded in Afghanistan, mostly innocent civilians, topped 4,000 when the count stopped being reported.

There is something rotten at the core when a few seconds of exposure of a nipple becomes a bigger issue than the bloodbath our government has inflicted on the world and on our own people.

6. My answer
The only thing more absurd than a cheap publicity stunt is asking a Presidential candidate about it.

19. My poor little Magic Rat! Too bad I'm not
20 years younger with zero kids and i'd invite you out to the lake to skinny dip. Boobs!

It wasn't about the boob, IMO, it was about JT tearing off her bodice like that.

And I think everyone is making way too much of it. I think they should ignore it like the steaker.

13. CBS
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 05:21 PM by digno dave
CBS will handle it just fine. They have enough problems to deal with.
I am not saying theat they should call for a boycott. That's O'Reilly's job.:puke: I am just saying they should, in a polite way, be critcal of it. It is purely a political maneuver. Don't allow yourself to be labeled "cultural vampires" by the repugs, that's all.

12. I guess America wasn't so prudish
in 1999 when Lil Kim wore a similar outfit all night -- not for two seconds -- and Diana Ross touched it...

15. I remember that
but wasn't it on cable?

For some dumbass reason, there's a different standard for broadcast networks.

Personally, I think it was stupid. I'm not offended by the breast in any way, though. I don't think it was the proper time and place.

I was offended by the memdacious apology by Timberlake. "Wardrobe accident?" Do you think as little of us as Bush does?
