How can we get media to stop ignoring Clark?
I am more confident than ever that Wes Clark both has the best chance of beating Bush and would make as good a president as any candidate, and better than all but 1 or 2.

But he's getting shut out by the media

1. Maybe we should ALL try speeding around at 88 MPH with Clark stickers
on our vehicles. Seriously, I think a win or two will force their hand. At least, I'm hoping like hell it will.

2. That is my thought also....
A win will force the media to pay attention to him. Go Wes!

4. With the change to the primary schedule
It may be impossible for an unknown candidate to enter the race in late Sept and have a real chance of winning.

If there was more time after Iowa and NH before the next primaries then Clark could have built more momentum.

The only way for Clark to get attention from the media at this point is to start attacking Kerry, with great enthusiasm. And of course win at least 2 states this week.

6. That would be correct IF this was just a media thing. It isn't.
There is a clear consensus among the newsfolk that Clark is done and nothing we do is going to change that.

Even if he wins the nomination in Boston, the stories will likely be about something else entirely, like a bond issue in California.

Why this is this way is a mystery to me.

That it is this way is plain as the nose on my face.

And that is REAL plain.

5. Maybe they're afraid of him?
I'm not a CT (conspiracy-theorist), but could it be a conspiracy by the Radical Conservative Media to ignore and therefore marginalize him? Or is this too far out there?

11. At this point, I am more inclined to believe
that it is insider democrats that are killing him. If a republican is ignoring or smearing a democrat, then it is up to a democrat to set the record straight. Clark is not getting much help out there.

Unfortunately in a broad sense that is all they understand. On a smaller scale I do believe the e-mails and phone calls to media outlets also have a temporary influence--they might mention CLark a few more times or show a quick picture for a second or so.

I really think it is the corporate media serving up a candidate that Bush/Rove can defeat. People respond to the media--a lot of people I know will tell me that Clark is "out of it" or "done" because that is what the media tells them. Of course I try to set them straight. But most people trust the media and think we're nuts for suspecting they have their own agenda.

Frankly I am discouraged and praying for a surprise tomorrow. The media is a very powerful influence on the masses.

14. the only thing the media reports
is when dems attack dems. Its sort of a damned if you do, damned if you dont thing.

What he needs is to do what Dean and Kerry have done - have surrogates out there beating the crap out of other candidates while other surrogates say 'we're not going to run a negative campaign'.

At this point, I really think Clark is the only one left with a realistic chance to upset Kerry (esp with the Quinnipac poll... if Kerry takes 6 and he has that to point at - this thing is over long before Dean has a chance to emerge).

17. We can't stop them but,
we can try to conteract them by going to Clark's website and joining E-Blocks. ASAP start writing letters and making phone calls to voters in states with February and March Primaries & Caucuses. This is critical to getting the message out. It's the best chance we have. Donating $ for those who are able to would also help. Not to sound corny but "If we build it, they will come." (from Field of Dreams). I'm not giving up.

20. Remember when Dean/Clark or Clark/Dean was unstoppable?
And so, the media and the Powers That Be all screamed, "Yikes! Can't have that! We might actually have decency and intelligence in the White House."

Clark's relegation to the sidelines is because he isn't part of the political go-along to get-along gang. Kerry talks about how Dean doesn't know how it's done in Congress. Dean knows all too well. So does Clark. Even most Europeans know better than most Americans.

(Yes, I deliberately used the word "screamed.")

22. Steal Dean's media advisor
Honestly...whatever that guy's name is, he is good at his job. He gets Dean press ALL THE TIME (including when he isn't doing anything). Talking on the phone? Cams are there. Deriding Kerry's possible botox use? Cams are there. Buying a new suit? Cams are there.
