Democrats against Kerry?
Seems somewhat even. A bunch here are against Kerry because he's too liberal! and can't??? win. Another bunch is against him because he's not really a liberal (despite a very liberal voting record) and think he'll just be another bought and paid for politico serving the corporate masters.

Get real people. Kerry is looking like he'll be the nominee. I know it is still early in the process but barring the unexpected (which sure can happen), it will soon be time to unite.

So you'll be able to vote for a liberal from Massachusetts, a neoconservative from Texas, or some yet to be determined fringe candidate that has as much chance of becoming President as I do.

Seems to be a pretty clear choice. I know my money and effort will be going to the liberal from Massachusetts.

One thing that I think we all have in common is the desire for change. Sure deep down I'd love to see Dennis elected but that will not be happening (reality sucks, doesn't it?).

So we can all work for a positive change or wait to see what changes Bush has in store for us starting in '05.

1. Can I just crawl in a dark corner and cry my eyes out for a while???
Before I break down and unite?

Seriously, I have a while yet before I am willing to make that concession. And, before I do, I fully intend to wallow in misery and feel sorry for myself and my candidate for a long while.

3. uh, too liberal?
I don't think any of the candidates are too liberal. If anything, I think the candidates are too conservative. :-)

7. Conventional liberalism
That's the best we're going to do. I'd like something more also but...there's that damn reality again.

5. "Kerry is looking like he'll be the nominee"
90% of the population has not voted. Maybe we should just not have
primaries or caucauses other than in these two states, since so many are happy just leaving the voting up to them? On other internet sites, people in NY and CA and other large states are really steamed that their opinions aren't supposed to count at this point.

8. Hey I'm in NJ
Our primary vote never counts. Maybe this year. Dean makes an amazing comeback. Or Clark gets it together. And they battle Kerry right up to June 6th? and then on to the convention. Unlikely, but you never know.

I expect, at this point, that Kerry will carry most states.

10. Why do you expect that?
Are his positions more popular with people? Is his message somehow different from the others'?

Why?

11. The Democratic Party
has been shrinking. At least that's what Ed Gillespie is fond of saying. He's got some numbers for elected Democrats changing party as they sit in one of the Houses to which they were elected.

More Americans are becoming "Independents". Kerry may motivate the Party base. Independent progressives will use a different measuring stick.

Why should progressives vote for someone based on Party affiliation when it seems to mean very little to the "leaders" of the Party?

12. As soon as Kerry wins the nomination, I'm for him. But not until then.
When the convention ends in Boston, that's when I'll know who I'm supporting in November. Maybe it'll be Kerry. If so, so it goes.

Four weeks ago it was going to be Dean.

I'll wait and see.
