George Bush is scaring me.
Oh, for the days when I thought Bush was but a bratty half-adolescent, Barb`s brazen example of parental indulgence. It didn`t take long to kick it up to ruffian, then to dangerous bully. Now I need to go a few notches higher and that`s what scares me.

If George Bush wasn`t the president, he`d make a perfect domestic violence perp. Since he`s used to making up his own rules, they`d come easy. No communications with anyone not pre-approved. No backtalk. No veering from stated household positions. Keep the kids quiet. Keep the shoes polished.
No surprises. It`s his remote. But, instead of shoving someone`s head into a walnut secretary, he blew up a couple countries to show `em who`s boss. He thought what little he did in Texas earned him the right to bring the world to its knees, given his last name and all. Why mess with twisting the little woman`s arm when you can get a lot more respect by threatening to blow up a nuclear power plant or killin` killers.

Wonder what his next step will be? He`s got our tax dollars, rubber stamp Republicans, the military, Air Force I, a herd of loyal yes-men, free commercials on cable news. He doesn`t have to obey our laws, he`s not restricted by our Constitution and he has a stack of signing statements that pretty much okay anything he chooses to do. Best of all, he regulary mixes fantasy with reality and lobs off any real or imagined criticism with lies sworn to by expertly-crafted backdrops.

Every now and then I think I detect chinks in his armor: pacing, sweating, stammering, like he`s coming unglued. I know he doesn`t pay attention to polls, but if his numbers get much worse, I shudder to think what he might do next.

2. "... pacing, sweating, stammering, like he`s coming unglued..."
That's just his self-medication wearing off.

3. Anything you ever needed to learn about the Chimp
is apparent when you check out his bratty hateful Alfred E Neuman-esque nephew.

It's genetic

4. he's a coward, he's in too deep....
In a way, bush is a genius, but in the same way we're all geniuses, given our circumstances. If you read 'Fortunate Son' by James H Hatfield, it is striking how easy it was for bush to gain position- if he was poor and black, he would not be president; if his name was Shicklegrubber, he would not be president! Yet he is president! Genius! Pure genius! It's like a man dives off the Brooklyn Bridge, crashes head first into a passing garbage scow, yet emerges on shore in Brooks Brother scented elegence, with a rose in his lapel! How do he do it? CNN/Foxnews TOLD US HE DID! That's how!
Genius! Pure fukking genius!

7. A well-written post,
and I agree. I was reading an article a while back, I think it was on Counter Punch. The author asked, "are you comfortable with Bush being so close to the button?"

I rest my case.

9. Bush would "make a perfect domestic violence perp."
democrank, you are absolutely right about that. It's something I've said for a long time, not only about Bush, but about his whole cabal.

*They lie, and then attack the person/people who call them on their lies.

*They do things that hurt people, like cutting funding for the poorest among us, and then make the person/people who have been hurt WRONG for feeling hurt (there are other words besides hurt that could be used, of course).

*When the victims of their abuse fight back, they take on a "How DARE you?" demeanor, and do whatever they can to shut the people up.

*The abuse continues to escalate, getting worse and worse over time.

Actually, I think the perfet descriptions of Bush and the cabal is of a domestic violence perp who is ALSO a top cop, like David Brame in Tacoma, WA. If you don't know, several years ago, Tacoma Police Chief David Brame shot and killed his wife in front of their children, and then killed himself. There was a history of domestic violence in the family, perpetrated by Brame. And his wife felt there was not really anywhere for her to turn, because her husband was the Chief of Police. Here's a link to the story:

This is one relationship that the people of the United States have GOT to get out of, before it's too late.
