When Cheney's RIGHT, you have to give it to him.
The Dick-wad said today that the if the "Democrats could fight this war (in Iraq), I should be singing on American Idol."

Well, let's face it, Cheney's right. The Democrats are NOT competent to fight THIS particular war (which, of course, was started by Cheney & The Gang in the first place).

And here's why:

If Democrats took over the waging of this war, they would immediately point to the lies and deceit that started it in the first place. That would be an incredible 'downer' right off the bat.

Democrats would never stoop so low as to TORTURE innocent people in order to obtain even MORE mis-information on which to base MORE useless, unproductive violence.

Democrats would seriously impact on the billions of dollars in profit that Halliburton (and the other war profiteers) are raking in by insisting the money be spent on things like body armour, vehicle armour, and the rebuilding of the infra-structure and buildings that we have already destroyed.

Democrats would insist on actually listening to the Iraqi people, and THEIR ideas for how their country could be best served.

Democrats would insist on actually listening to the American people, and THEIR ideas for how their own tax dollars could be more wisely spent on things like 'spreading democracy' in the Middle East.

Democrats would be likely to 'cave' to the voice of reason in a place where common sense went out the window on Day One of this debacle.

When people actually LIVING in Iraq stated that their country was in the midst of a civil war, the Democrats would actually think those people might KNOW what they were talking about.

Democrats would try to promote a 'common sense' agenda, rather than a 'Neo-Con' agenda.

Democrats would fail to secure the revenue from Iraqi oil fields for themselves, but would put it to use in rebuilding the country who OWNS those oil fields.

Democrats would waste time and money attempting to ensure that the Iraqi people were safe, and had access to clean drinking water, well-run hospitals, and all of that other nonsense.

Democrats would siphon precious funds that now go to 'painting' Iraqi schools by applying that money to the hiring of teachers, the purchase of textbooks and other school supplies.

Democrats would support the troops by providing them with the equipment they need now, and the benefits they will need when they get home, instead of putting 'Support The Troops' bumper-stickers on their SUVs.

Democrats would devise a viable 'exit strategy' that was not based on letting the 'next' president worry about it.

Democrats would exhaust every possible opportunity for a diplomatic, all-inclusive means of settling disputes, instead of just bombing the crap out of everyone.

Democrats would assign our military to tasks that actually made a difference in Iraq, instead of using them as photo-op props.

Democrats would promote free speech and a free press in a country they are trying to build as a democracy, instead of paying propagandists to 'get creative' with press releases based on fabricated 'good news'.

Democrats would honour our war dead at every turn, instead of shipping the remains of fallen soldiers back to their grieving parents as 'freight'.

The current 'war' in Iraq is unwinnable. But those pie-in-the-sky Democrats would still make every effort to un-do the terrible injustice that has been done to that country. They're just THAT crazy!

So, yes, Dickie is right. The Democrats could NEVER fight this war in the way it is currently being fought.

So we won't be hearing Dickie's rendition of "War" (What is it Good For -Absolutely Nothin') any time soon on American Idol.

Thank God for small favours.

Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 08:02 PM by AnneD
I see Dick singing that song "Bang Bang he shot me down, Bang Bang I hit the ground..." I seem to think Nancy Sinatra did it.

edited cause I think Dick would look SO cool in white go go boots...he already has the white lips ...rrrrhhh tiger.

7. I don't know if Nancy Sinatra also did a rendition of ...
... "Bang, Bang", but I know that Cher had a big hit with it back in the 'sixties.

While I must admit that Cheney would be perfect in white go-go boots, seeing him in a sequined Bob Mackie gown might be even better!

20. Because we are Democrats, and thus believe in fairness ...
... it is only fitting that in honour of both Cher's and Nancy's claim to 'Bang, Bang' fame, we deck Dickie out in a Bob Mackie SEQUINED GOWN with matching WHITE SEQUINED GO-GO BOOTS.

Come on, Dems - fair is fair!

21. Really?
Nancy Sinatra's comeback began with a bang.
Actually, with a "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)." Last year, director Quentin Tarantino used Sinatra's 1966 cover of the Cher hit over the opening credits of "Kill Bill: Vol. 1," suggesting in interviews that he partially plotted his "Kill Bill" films around Sinatra's soul-scarred reading of that thematically appropriate breakup dirge. http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/11-04/11-30-04/b01li055.htm

13. RE: The Hyphen ...
I just can't help myself. I tend to be grammatically correct, as opposed to politically correct.

By way of example, I would tend to refer to Dick Cheney as:

"That totally-self-absorbed-Neo-Con-idiot-who-would-take-this-entire-democracy-down-if-it-put-a-buck-in-his-own-pocket ..."

As opposed to the current, more acceptable title of:

"His Divine Majesty, the Most Honourable and Revered Richard Cheney."

But hey, that's just me ...

Thanks for the post, SeaBob!

14. Always amusing to hear from Dick "Shotgun" Cheney
If he was actually right about this, it'd be a first. But of course if a Democrat had wrongly decided to invade Iraq (they wouldn't have, most likely), they'd have gone in with enough troops to manage the occupation. They wouldn't have had delusional nincompoops like Cheney, Rummy, Wolfie and Condi running the show--they'd have had competent, experienced grownups in charge.

16. No but Democrats could end this war, make reparations to Iraqis and the
world and get us back on the road to integrity. But that would stop the taxpayer slushfund to Cheney and his cronies, so he'll fight to his death to keep it from happening.

Creep.

17. Does "dead eye Dick" know for a fact that there are no democrats
fighting in Iraq? I find it hard to believe that every soldier is a rethuglican.

If Cheney is so freakin' brave, pick up a rifle and start shooting! (Oh wait, he already did that.)

I absolutely hate these fucking chicken hawks. They are so brave and talk so tough sitting behind their desks.

Cheney is a piece of shit. I might actually despise him more than I despise little lord pissy pants.

You know, the kind of real man who would shoot his buddy in the face, then make him apologize for it.
