The * cabal keeps changing the reasons we are in Iraq...and we all have known from day 1 it was about the oil!!

is just a part, i'm sure of the oil co. plan. Have you or anyone else heard or read about the UNgining the US 24 B in oil for food money for "reconstruction" in iraq?

3. Prewar daily production 2.5 million barrels. Postwar 1.7 million.

Prewar price under $30/barrel. Postwar price over $60.
Net dollar increase: (1.7x60)- (2.5x30)= 27 million dollar increase PER DAY

And we are assuming the accuracy of the production figures. Last I heard the meters in southern Iraq were broken by insurgent attacks. The pipeline was restored but the meters were not repairable, funny how that works.

4. Almost correct!

The reason has always been about oil. But the reason the US turned it over to OPEC, is because OPEC deals in greenbacks and Saddam was going to start selling Iraqi oil via Euros.

Yea we the US couldn't have that, we need to keep oil supplies in the world being sold using the greenback, and thats why IMHO we'll invade Iran, Iran has stated they plan to sell their oil using Euros. And here's the rub, Iran plans to start selling Iranian oil using Euros in the month of March 2006.

5. I don't buy the Euro theory

it BTW has been debunked by several economists, among them by the Paris Bourse in an unique communique. When Saddam was in charge the Euro was only virtual and at that time nobody knew if it was going to work or not. Besides it would be needed that ALL OPEC countries turn to the Euro as sole currency to affect the petrodollar, which is not likely since the US could easily retaliate by stopping armsales to those countries.

8. yeah but dealing in greenbacks gives it value

if more and more foreign countries stop using the American dollar as the main currency to trade against then the greenback begins to effectively lose it's international value. Impacting our ability to finance our gargantuan debt and foreign wars.

I believe we are at economic war with Asia more specifically China, and it is entirely reasonable to believe that in 20-30 the Yan replaces the Dollar as the world's primary trading currency.

10. that's exactly where the problem is

historical accounts show that when a country is in so much debt that it isn't longer truthworthy, the ruling currency will fall. Last time that happened was with the British pound. The emerging dominating currency could be the Euro but it might be the Yuan... Unless we create a Eurodollar.
