KOS, Leiberman "losing it," make front page of Hartford Courant!
This is big! Not above the fold, but lots of ink nonetheless, with much of it devoted to how the blogs have helped Lamont. This article will make you feel good about online activism! (Note: the Courant's link has this in a "Breaking News" section, but it really isn't...just a good read).

Online Buzz Benefits Lamont
Lieberman Joust Fuels Bloggers, Spurs Donations To Foe
March 24, 2006
By MARK PAZNIOKAS, Courant Staff Writer

Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman dropped his usual air of imperturbability during a drive-time radio appearance Wednesday, snapping at the host over a column criticizing the senator and backing his challenger, Ned Lamont.

Six years ago, when Lieberman last ran for re-election, his comments would have had the shelf life of an ice-cream cone. But on Thursday, they only grew louder, amplified by Internet bloggers.

"Wow," said one hostile review on a widely read liberal site, The Daily Kos (www.dailykos.com). "Two weeks into his contested primary, and Joe `How Dare Anyone Challenge Me' Lieberman literally lost it on the air."

Whether the avuncular senator truly "lost it" is debatable, but Lieberman's jousting with radio host and columnist Colin McEnroe undeniably was high-test fuel for the blogs - and, apparently, money in the bank for Lamont.

1. Help Ned Lamont

http://www.nedlamont.com

" Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut reproached fellow Democrats for criticizing President Bush during a time of war.

"It's time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge that he will be the commander in chief for three more critical years and that in matters of war we undermine presidential credibility at our nation's peril," Lieberman said."

and this interesting comment from Sen. Lieberman while in Baghdad

"Time magazine Baghdad bureau chief Michael Ware on Morning Sedition this morning:

I and some other journalists had lunch with Senator Joe Lieberman the other day and we listened to him talking about Iraq. Either Senator Lieberman is so divorced from reality that he's completely lost the plot or he knows he's spinning a line. Because one of my colleagues turned to me in the middle of this lunch and said he's not talking about any country I've ever been to and yet he was talking about Iraq, the very country where we were sitting."

4. Well, actually the story hit the front page of a major paper, above the
fold!!!

This is a BIG STORY...it's a crack in the dam. Lieberman will have to find a way to make this matter recede into the background, and his opponent needs to ensure that doesn't happen.

He's gonna actually have to RUN this time; and he's been nothing but a weak sister since 00. It could be real trouble for him.

(6or7 go to the convention) said they may vote for Joe. Most are siding with Lamont.... Including me.

11. I had this discussion with a friend, who said he'd probably vote Joe
I was snowboarding at Okemo last weekend when my cell phone went off...it was the Lamont campaign, inquiring about some volunteer work. I told one of my buddies, and he said "Lamont who?" He seemed to honestly not know about Ned's challenge to Joementum. I filled him in a bit more about the campaign, but he said he'd still likely vote for Joe, because he's been good for the state, and more importantly, he likes that Joe is outspoken and stands up for what he believes in.

Dammit! I robber stands up for robbery, but that doesn't make his steadfastness right. I tried to explain this to my friend. Didn't you vote democrat? Yes. Then why do you want to support a democrat who is so beholden to the republican party, who is quite literally one of the GOP's darlings? Why do you support a democrat who isn't representing YOU, and seems to be representing Bush instead?

He didn't have an answer. "Yeah, I understand," he said. But he added, "No one can beat Leiberman here." Sigh. The "I want to be on the winning side" argument. I hate that! But I'll keep working on him.
