1. Good link thanks. Excerpt below.
I, uh, my attitude about the defense of this country changed on September the 11th.

FH: That's true. Instead of ignoring Al Qaeda and fixating on a spurious threat from Iraq, you're ignoring Al Qaeda and creating a bona fide threat in Iraq.

Uh, we, uh, when we got attacked, I vowed then and there to use every asset at my disposal to protect the American people.

FH: You also vowed to do that on Januay 20, 2001.

Our foreign policy changed on that day, Helen. You know, we used to think we were secure. Because of oceans and previous diplomacy. But we realized on September the 11th, 2001 that killers could destroy innocent life.

FH: You suddenly realized that killers could destroy innocent life? What are you, four years old?

4. Did you see Helen Thomas's interview with Wolf on CNN last night?
The only reason I watched it was because it followed Lou Dobbs (who had Randi Rhodes on last night :bounce:) and we couldn't find the remote (it was hiding under a tree, no doubt a plot by the situation room). The interview was pretty stale. Wolf asked her (after setting up how difficult and tense it was for the pResident because of all the bad polls numbers and scandal :eyes:) wasn't she being too tough on the President? Ms. Thomas of course said no in a nondescript answer then at the end Ms. Thomas said to Wolf that he had asked some pretty though questions of Presidents in the past, especially his question to President Clinton asking him if he would resign. You could just hear the drum emphasizing the punch line in the background. God she's good.

5. Here's my Helen Thomas fantasy
It's Junior's birthday, and several reporters have brought him flowers...

Bush points at her for her question and says, "Helen, you're next."

Instead of replying with a question, Helen gets up out of her chair...smiles at Bush politely...calmly walks toward the podium carrying a boquet of carnations in her left hand...gets to within a couple of feet of Bush while everyone looks on wondering WTF, is she going to kiss him?...reaches out to hand the flowers to him. Then, as Bush extends his hand to accept the flowers, Helen "accidentally" drops them on the floor...Bush bends over to pick them up...Helen pulls a homemade cherry pie out of her pocketbook and proceeds to let him have it right where it tastes the best. After she's done pieing his face, Helen does 3 cartwheels across the stage, followed by a perfect back flip, to which the entire press room erupts in spontaneous thunderous applause. Helen calmly walks back to her seat, knodding her head in self approval as the chants of "Helen, Helen, Helen" fill the air.

That is my Helen Thomas fantasy!
