Who else doesn't care if the candidates get Botox?
I so don't care if Kerry or any of the other candidates get Botox or anything else that they feel improves their appearance.

Do you guys agree that it doesn't matter, or is this really an issue with you?

1. I do
I am not going to vote for someone as think as to inject toxins into his head, especially after they just got done getting chemo. This guy is a walking toxicology!

5. This is the 21st century. It's done more often than taking aspirin.
If Kerry even did it, which he says he didn't.

I don't want the candidates wasting their time talking about this stupid stuff. I don't care if they take medication for their virility, either. That's personal. I don't care about it.

I don't care if Edwards dies his hair or Dean tried to wear elevator shoes. It's stupid. We have some really important things to focus on.

22. What about dying hair then?
That is putting chemicals right on their head. What if it seeps into their brain? My my.... the important things.

23. Big leap
You're making a pretty huge leap comparing botox to chemo. I was wondering if you have a link about Kerry's chemo treatment because that is not the normal course of treatment for localized prostate cancer. Sounds to me like your trying to make Kerry sound much, much sicker than he was.

To answer the original question, botox makes absolutely no difference to me. Hell, I started coloring my gray hairs by my early 20s, use whitening toothpaste, and wear makeup. Who am I to judge?

26. Thank you
I assume by telling me that I sound like a Kerry supporter, what you really mean is that I would like to see facts rather than make unfounded accusations.

2. Repukes claim that Kerry lied about using Botox
Allegedly he said that he doesn't know what it is.
Then they go on and on about the whole "values" and "moral standards" and "trust". Oh, how I HATE this talk.

7. Yes. We mustn't let the Repubs sidestep the issues! That's
what they are trying to do. Take focus off the lack of jobs, the huge turnout among Dem. voters in IA & NH, the atrocious environmental policies of this administration.

I think the candidates should just respond, "That's silly," and move on to discuss real issues.

6. I think candidate deodorant choices tell a lot about their viability
We also need to know what kind of bowel movements they have as well. Do they have holes in their socks? Are they prone to urinate off the toilet bowl? Do they have toejam? Are they flatulant? Do they pick their nose when no one is looking?

These are issues we really need to start bringing up.

I think he looks good. I am a Clark supporter and I think he (Clark) should pluck his eyebrows and do something about his undereye bags but it won't stop me from voting for him.

11. No, but I sure do care if they LIE about getting it
If we can't trust Kerry to tell the truth about something as minor as getting Botox then how the hell can we trust him on anything important? Someone who lies about something this small is going to lie about all kinds of things, and that's the cold, hard truth. A liar is a liar is a liar is a liar. Period. Do you want to nominate a liar? It's one thing to make an honest mistake because you have bad facts/figures or misunderstood something. But if you get Botox you clearly know that you got it and if you deny it, there is just no excuse. How on earth the guy thought no one would notice is beyond me. If he wanted to do it, fine, but he should have been prepared to admit it if he got caught. We don't need another liar in the white house, thanks.

17. Then I'd say that you don't understand politics.
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 02:14 PM by TexasSissy
Why do you think Kennedy beat Nixon? Clinton beat Dole? Why pundits say that Abraham Lincoln would never be elected these days? Why FDR's disability was kept from the public?

Especially in this age of television, appearance is a factor. Remember all the talk about how bad Kerry looked? Some posters assumed it meant he was still sickly. Healthy appearance seems to equal health, in some voters' minds.

But Kerry says he didn't, and I don't care about it one way or the other. It's a personal matter that has no effect on his ability to govern.

And I'm not even a Kerry supporter! I'm a Clark supporter, Kerry's enemy!

18. Me, I prefer my candidate "angry"
about the present state of affairs, but that is the characterization used to discredit Dean and portray him as "unelectible".

So Kerry is a vain phony?

Like I said, I prefer "angry" myself.

if you pressed me, i'd have to admit it bugs me.

i look at my face and i like it. it shows where i've been and what i've done, right there in plain sight. the idea of injecting a toxin into the muscles of my face to paralyze them to change the face i present to people just doesn't seem .........i dunno. it just seems too vain for me and i have to say, it has affected the way i feel about kerry.

he is not a wiser man for it. his heart isn't bigger. he isn't smarter or younger for having botox injections. i'm sorry, but that's just the way i feel.
