Poll question: Binary Kerry v Lieberman Poll
Just hypothetical because Lieberman is not going anywhere... but what if a miracle happened and it came down to Kerry v Lieberman? Who do you prefer?

1. Damn it. Ignore one of the Lieberman votes.
I was so shocked and awed by the thought of Lieberman hanging around long enough to fight Kerry that I voted for the wrong damn guy!

3. Is there a difference between the two? Both pro-war.
At least Joe isn't making lame excuses like Skull & Backboneless.

14. Both pro-war?
Of course, that's the only issue at stake here.

4. Prefer -- Lieberman, Vote -- Kerry
I respect Lieberman more than Kerry, due to his conviction/integrity, but I think he would be an utter disaster, failing to hold our left flank together (to the contrary, in fact).

19. This obviously proves that the DU is no representative of primary voters
And there are many hateful people on this board. George Bush would probably beat Kerry on this board.

26. Opposing Kerry is not being "hateful"
there are many hateful people on this board.

But it should give pause to Kerry supporters to stop for one minute and think how they are going to convince the people that opposed and marched against the Iraq war, to even bother to vote for a candidate that voted for the war, and supported the war after it began until it things turned sour in Iraq.

Your ABB loyalty oaths do not affect those voters for they don't even know DU exists. They are issue-oriented voters that have no loyalty whatsoever to party labels. If they see the Bush-Kerry contest as a another "phoney deal" between prowar candidates, they will not vote for Kerry.

In a real close election their votes would be critical if the Democrats want to win.

16. Lieberman's not S&B, but he is in favor of the PNAC agenda.
So I can't vote for either of them.

18. With Lieberman we know what we are getting.
Lieberman has also been consistent on Iraq, Joe wanted Saddam out whether or not there were WMDs or not. Joe has also attacked Kerry for waffling and trying to be on both sides of the issue.

27. In defense of Kerry (sorta)
Kerry's always said that he had a nuanced view of the Iraq vote. I kind of like politicians who are willing to take nuanced views in foreign affairs--a field in which the two dimensional simplicities used on the campaign trail do not work. It shows a mind willing and capable of dealing with the ambiguities of international relations. That said, there is also a tendency on the part of Kerry to blow with the wind. I wouldn't call it rudderlessness (altho perhaps I just did) but that he's overly flexible in how he represents the people. He puts a nice gloss on the fact that he's more representative than leader. If he can beat Bush I'm happy to have him win. If he can beat my guy, and my second choice too, I'm happy to support him. But my fears will not go away. The calls for Dem unity to rally behind Kerry are as premature as the calls to rally behind Dean were last month. I don't think Kerry will do great in the spotlight, but we first gotta see who's going to win in a Clark-Edwards match up before Kerry can close this Deal.

28. There are no nuances to an scenario in which you have 526 dead GIs
and 2,991 wounded GIs, and another scenario in which the 526 dead GIs are alive and well, and the 2,991 wounded GIs are not missing limbs or have any injury of any sort.

Kerry has blood on his hands!

Some issues are binary. They are either right or wrong, and there is no moral uncertainty about them. War is one. The death penalty is one. Abortion is another. Torture is also one. Murder is another.
