I don't even know where to begin looking. Is there someplace OFFICIAL that shows how much stock he and his immediate family have in the oil companies RIGHT NOW? Thanks! :)

P.S. Yes, I googled; I'm hoping someone else has already waded through the "not giving me numbers but telling the story" stuff.

1. Worthy question deserving of a 4 part Time Magazine series
...and a month's worth of 60 Minutes epidsodes.

The question should be expanded to include Cheney, Rice, and the close Bush associates and friends. An overall look at energy and defense industry profits and who has benefitted from policy is long, long overdue.

These guys will be boardroom heroes for decades, regardless of low approvals, censure, impeachment, investigations, indictments, etc.. This theme is the underlying motivation for poor decisions in EVERY POLICY AREA and is a major story.

52 of the world's largest 100 economies are corporations.

3. Don't know, but
someone could initiate a FOIA of tax returns (Moveon or PDA)....Then see what companies and stocks are held in what accounts...Then see how much those stocks have increased in 5 years.

or

Search for keywords like Cheney+stock+profit or Bush+Carlyle Group or Rice+Exxon or Bush+income tax...and hope someone has already done some work in this regard

or

Get someone (journalist attending WH press conference) to simply ask the question of the WH and see if they answer

or

just contact Time, Newsweek, Pitt, Greg Palast, Josh Marshall, Huffpo, Kos, others to shake the tree, plant the seed, enlist help, etc. See what happens. Someone may want to work on it or someone may have heard of someone else already starting the research...who knows.

4. Kicking for a damned good question
However, we'll never know anything about the Carlyle "investments" since that's a PRIVATE equity organization (not a corporation).
