Who, if not Clark, can carry these torches for us?
Holding the Bush Administration directly accountable for 9/11, for ignoring the threats and deciding to play with a new missile defense system instead?

Exposing the PNAC agenda for Mid East conquests and American hegemony?

Making the case that the Military budget is bloated from the inclusion of overly high tech weapons systems, stating that military spending can be reduced without compromising American security?

Arguing that the American taxation system has to become more Progressive, above and beyond recovering Bush's tax cuts for the rich?

Directly calling right wing manipulation of and bias in the media a direct threat to our Democracy?

Recognizing the sovereignty of Native American Nations as spelled out in the United States Constitution?

Openly embracing and accepting the support of a right wing targeted Radical like Michael Moore, who would not let the "deserter Bush" charge die?

Leading the charge for transparency in government by opening up all of his own records to full public scrutiny and demanding that all lobbyist ties be fully revealed?

It is rare that any one candidate has full "ownership" of any single issue, and I don't claim that for Clark regarding the above. However Clark has been very forceful and direct on all of the above issues. As the field narrows, I ask all wavering voters to consider the importance of Wesley Clark's voice in national policy debates. OF course Clark also has strong progressive policies and proposals in a number of traditional Democratic areas, such as the Environment, Health Care, Job Creation, a strong Pro Choice Stance, Unwavering support for Affirmative Action, and a bedrock solid anti discrimination equal treatment for all Americans regardless of any defining distinctions.

But what sets Clark apart from any of the other candidates with a chance of winning a primary this month are the first set of issues. That and this: Clark continues to pull in votes from moderate to conservative voters in Republican oriented states. Those voters respect Clark's life long service to his country, and they back him for it. They respect Clark's blunt unvarnished assessment of what is right and what is wrong about America. Clark has the intrinsic respect of middle America which enables him to directly confront Republican "wedge issues", and not only defuse them, but turn them back against those who seek to use them for their narrow political agendas. Clark defends Gay and Lesbian Rights and does so in the name of fundamental American values. He elevates political dissent to the status of a moral imperative, and he makes all Americans proud that we live in a nation that honors it.

Clark has been a Commander in Chief. God forbid an airline flight arrives from London with anthrax spore released in the cabin, or a dirty nuclear device goes off on a cargo ship in an American harbor. Such an event would transform our lives again, and it certainly could transform an election overnight. With Clark as our nominee our Party can assure the American People that we are ready to handle any emergency or threat to our nation.

Clark is not beholden to any special interests. He avoided them by making a life long career in the U.S. Military. The vast majority of his income after retirement came from writing and speaking. He never entered into a marriage of convenience with special interests to further his political career, because Clark never had a political career. Clark is not owned by anyone, so he truly is free to serve the American people in the Presidency, in the same spirit of honor and duty as he did in the U.S. Army. When again in our lifetime can we expect to have a man like Wes Clark in a position to become President of the United States?

Here's pulling for Clark in Oklahoma, and Arizona, in New Mexico and North Dakota, and for a better than expected showing in South Carolina for good measure. We need him in this race. He has the courage we all need to confront the ongoing Republican Coup.

7. Calling right wing media a threat to Democracy
...is my favorite of the bunch, at least today. Clark really seems to know what is at stake in this election cycle.

10. I'm for Dean but....
I like your guy tremendously. I hope he does very well tomorrow and I wish all Clark supporters the best of luck. I consider him, Dean and Kucinich the most principled contenders in this race. I will vote ABB come election time but I would be enthusiastic voting for any of these three. Less about the others.

I always considered myself an independant until this administration came around and pushed me into the democratic fold. I feel this is much the case with Clark, and I can relate.

Go Clark! ( would say go Dean but this is a Clark thread.)

Keep on going Clark supporters. It's not over yet.

12. Thank you, stuzzy.
We Clark supporters appreciate your openmindedness.

I'm a former Dean supporter, and Kucinich is my #2 right now. All good choices.

11. I'm a DK guy, but Tom's reasons are why
Clark is on my short list.

If DK were tall & handsome, he'd be fairly close to Clark. They tend to see eye-to-eye (eye-to-chest?) on most of the important things.

However, NAFTA/GATT/WTO is not one of them.
