Harry Reid: "I really do believe this man will go down as...
...the worst president this country has ever had."

The Senate narrowly approved a $2.8 trillion election-year budget Thursday that broke spending limits only hours after it increased federal borrowing power to avert a government default....

....The increase in the debt limit brought the total increase during the Bush administration to $3 trillion. Democrats said the rising debt was the consequence of what they described as a reckless Republican fiscal policy centered on tax cuts for the affluent.

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic leader, said Thursday that given Mr. Bush's record, "I really do believe this man will go down as the worst president this country has ever had."

2. perhaps he will, but he won't get the whole caucus on board
You can't whip this kind of vote. It is absolutely wrong to whip a vote like this.

4. I do like and respect Reid, I'm just frustrated.
It's like Chimpy is super dooper Teflon coated. Nothing sticks to him. He makes Reagan look like an amatuer. :(

Why do you think it's wrong to whip this vote? I'm no expert in senatorial procedure and tactics.

6. This is gonna take time.
We are never going to be able to get the Washington Dems on board with us. What we have to focus on is slowly replacing them with better dems while letting existing Dems know we are watching. So we can blunt the worst that our weak-ass Dems can do until we get a better crop in there.

Make no mistake, it will take a generation to fix this party.

Some things you can do: run for your local Democratic Committee. It's the smallest unit of organization, but committee people are the gateway to politics. whether you want to move up or get other people to move up in the party, being a committeeperson is the first best step we can take.

I'm on the advisory committee for my local county Democratic Party. I'm also an appointed county board member (non-political, non-paid position.) I'm also working with the Democratic parties in two counties and with a get out the vote group (register and vote, preferably absentee here in my area of my 100% Diebold state.) We currently have no open committee positions. I'll have to consider running. I've been encouraged to run for public office in my county by my elected Democratic commissioners and mayor.

I agree with you: it'a gonna take years to fix this mess. :(

3. Say what you will, but Reid is worlds better than
his immediate predecessor.

At least caucus unity has improved. We're still herding cats, but the herd is a little tamer.

5. About 1 year ago, an old highschool friend of mine said
that he thought in 20 years, people will realize Bush was the best President this country has ever had.

I told him he was nuts.

We don't talk much anymore. :eyes:

7. What's with putting Bush in with this group of Presidents?
Is this like the puzzle..."which one doesn't belong in the group"? If so, that was a little too easy.

8. That's the illustration Huffington Post ran with the article...
...so I'm not sure of the original source.

But do you remember the early trips of "Ambassador" Karen Hughes to the middle east? She had a supply of "great presidents" books with her (with Bush on the cover, naturally) that she handed out to little middle east kids so they would not hate us.

I don't think her plan worked.
