John Edwards on Hardball tonight from New Orleans
The U.S. military led the largest air assault today since the Iraq War began three years ago to take out suspected insurgents in an area northeast of Samarra. Military officials in Baghdad said that 1,500 troops, 50 aircraft, and more than 200 vehicles were involved in the attack. Tonight on Hardball, Chris will discuss the latest on these developments with Time's Baghdad Bureau Chief Michael Ware and NBC News Military Analyst Gen. Wayne Downing (Ret.). Here's a report from the AP: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11857580/.

Meanwhile, back at home, the president issued a national security report that reaffirmed his pre-emptive war doctrine. Steve McMahon, Democratic strategist, and Kate O'Beirne, Washington editor for the National Review, will be here to talk about the administration's situation and whether any changes could be coming in the president's polls or personnel.

Make sure you read this report by Hardball's David Shuster as he watched Jessica Simpson make Capitol Hill smile today: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11860183.

Also tonight, former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) will join Chris live from New Orleans where he is helping college students on spring break help rebuild the city.

Plus, Veteran political strategists Mike Berman and Ed Rollins will be here to talk about White House strategy and the developing dynamics for the 2006 and 2008 elections. Berman also will talk about his new book called "Living Large."
