Is privatization of essential services like water a form of terrorism?

I just read this article on what happened when they privatized water in South Africa:

and I recall from the film THE CORPORATION that privatization in Bolivia led to massive price increases and riots.

Doesn't putting essential services like this, electricity, and the internet in private hands give them the ability to blackmail us like the power companies did hear in California during the rolling blackouts?

Why do we allow our government to promote something so destructive, and let it happen not only elsewhere in the world, but here as well?

Are politicians so corrupt they would sell the power of life and death over us to a corporation? Because if they control the water spigot, that's exactly what they have given away.

5. privatization is the worst nightmare to a democratic republic

specially when you start privatizing votes.
