Just rec'd a GOP census document/questionnaire. Let's fill it out!
Actually, it arrived in the name of my husband, who, lo, these many years ago, was a repuke party member. He stayed in the party, for a few years after he became a Liberal, just so that our family could vote in both primaries. But, eventually, just having his name on their roster was too loathsome for him to contemplate. So, he walked toward the light and became a Democrat. However he still gets occasional GOP mailings because, as we know, they're too dumb to understand that he reviles them, now.

And that's why we have this fun questionnaire. Most of the questions ask whether the recipient supports B*sh's policies. The possible answers are yes, no, and undecided.

I want to respond to the survey but my dilemma is this: should I answer truthfully, indicating that I disagree with each B*sh regime policy? Or should I indicate that I agree with the policies, thereby casting a vote that B*sh should just continue fucking everything up and alienating the majority non-freeper/non-neocon members in his party? I can formulate arguments for both scenarios, so I want to throw it out there to all of you smart DUers, and see what you think I should do.

Here is a scan of the questionnaire...

2. I got something from Bush in the mail at my house
I returned the contents (somewhat altered) in the postage paid envelope they provided. And they reminded everyone to put a stamp on it to save money. Oops...forgot the stamp... }(

3. I got one of those, filled it out, and got a Platinum GOP Membership Card
I even used "The F-Word" on the form, and they still sent me a membership card.

5. republican survey
I got one of those last year. I must confess that I gave in to immaturity and used a black magic marker to write FUCK YOU PEOPLE on each page in block letters and taped the return envelope to a brick so that they would have to pay a lot of postage to get my message.

Juvenile behavior, I know, but I felt soooo much better.:D

7. GOP will never tabulate the answers - it's just $$$ raising gimmick.

The questions are all ambiguously slanted to generate support for Bush and the national GOP, and get their party faithful so fired up by all the "great" conservative things Bush is doing that they'll donate. I wouldn't waste my time filling it out, other than perhaps using a black magic marker to say something like, "I'm so disgusted with Bush's wasteful, murderous policies that I'm voting a straight Democratic ticket from now on!" Then return it anonymously. It will chip away at the confidence of the hacks running this scam, and the more scared they get, the more of them will decide to drop out of races and spend more time - let's chant it all together now,

WITH THEIR FAMILIES!

8. I can appreciate the vengeful nature of the ideas posted, so far...
...but I'm thinking of a more strategic approach. I know my husband's survey is only one of thousands but I still want to do what I can to fuck them over. And, hey, from the responses here, more than a few of us have received these. Maybe we should all answer them to the Democratic Party's advantage. Lord knows we have precious few avenues for effecting change. We should be stealthy and figure out how each of us, in our own little way, can undermine the 'pukes.

9. Always answer truthfully
Don't stoop to their level by trying to manipulate and control.
And I agree it is only a fund raiser...they don't care what you think as long as there is cash in the mail.

11. It may be just a fundraising gimmick...
...but assuming the scenario that they may actually tabulate the results and use the data, I disagree with you regarding stooping to their level. I see answering strategically, whether truthfully or not, as a legitimate way to fight fire with fire. Being polite and truthful has netted us little to no results in our effort to retake Congress and the presidency.

I do, however, draw the line at "catapulting the propaganda" to the nation, via the corporate media.

12. I happen to have the Brooklyn Bridge for sale - special price to YOU!
How can you doubt that this is a fundraiser? The dems do the same thing. I get these all the time. No organization is going to waste their time on developing, distributing and tabulating a real survey unless they have statistically controlled the demographics of those they question. I designed questionnaires in graduate school for various research projects, and I also designed telephone "surveys" for political candidates who wanted to find out how their constituency viewed particular issues. Those political surveys were done anonymously, ie, we didn't tell the people we contacted that we were doing the research for a particular political party. That's because we wanted accurate responses to help determine which issues to focus on in the campaign. I have also seen a lot of the "push" polling, in which slanted questions are asked for the purpose of manipulating the people being questioned. The questions in the document you received are ridiculously slanted. Answer them however you want, but smell the coffee here.

10. Here's a census question for the Republicans:
Are you one of the African-Americans that we Republicans ignore during the census, by refusing to adjust the numbers for the citizens that we know darn well have gone uncounted? Does it bother you that you aren't represented in Congress, because we Republicans pretend you don't exist?
