Little envelopes of white powder -- what else could it be?
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 11:40 AM by IdaBriggs
Another thread (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2514963) is asking the unanswerable question: what are the Democratic "leaders" afraid of? In another post I have voiced the conjecture that they want the corruption to be "standard practice" for when they do it, but another possible answer is that they are afraid for their lives, and their families lives, too.

They get on planes, and they crash. Small envelopes of white powder are mailed to their offices, and no one ever figures out who did it. The lucky ones get their characters smeared (Kerry the coward, anyone?), while the unlucky ones keep dying. And for what?

They think their job is to be REASONABLE. Compromise. Do what is best for "everyone" and that means taking a turn or two at "giving in" while telling themselves they aren't really giving up. They are supposed to be informed, clear minded, and able to use diplomacy to do what is best for the country. Sometimes you win a battle (Harriet Myers) and sometimes you lose (Alito), so every day they get up prepared to do their best. ITS A JOB.

Plus they get paid a lot of money, and there are a ton of perks to being a Senator or a Representative.

But frankly, I think its time they packed up and went home. They think they are being useful by stopping us from being ANALLY RAPED, while not noticing we aren't grateful since SO MANY OF ARE TIRED OF BEING RAPED PERIOD.

Plus, a whole bunch of us are dead.

So, this is my message to my Senators and my Representatives: If you aren't with us, you are against us.

If you are too frightened of WHATEVER it is that is making you behave like such ninnies, then retire.

Its time to PUT UP OR SHUT UP AND GO THE HELL HOME.

4. You are blinded by your hatred of Bush.
I don't think Censure or Impeachment will solve anything.

Impeachment will only give you Dennis Hastert or some other Republican that has been swimming in punch. Censure is symbolic only and what we need now is change not symbolism.

What you need to be focusing your time and energies on is changing the makeup of the House and Senate by helping those brave individuals who are running for office.

5. You are probably correct in your assessment...

It is symbolic.....

But symbolic events carry a lot of weight....especially this one...

We the Dem constituents, the Dem populace need a sign any sign that or Representatives and Senators have the backbone and are willing to step out on a limb to show us that they are serious about what is happening to America...

Yes it is symbolic but this symbol represents hope to us the constituents!!

6. No, no I'm not. I do hate him, but that is kind of not relevant.
And changing the make up of the House and Senate with "more of the same" seems a tad pointless.

Censure is a beginning; impeachment is a necessity -- and it needs to be started NOW so that when BOTH CHENEY AND BUSH ARE OUT, the next in line (leader of the House, I believe?) is a Democrat.

If impeachment is on the boards, this year is a Presidential Election. If its not, its a waste of time, and just one big snow job from the "Stay Employed Government Folks."

But thanks for playing. :eyes:

8. More of the Same?
More of the same???

So what are you going to do?

You're not going to vote?

Are you going to run for office?

Will Censure change the makeup of the House & Senate?

10. Well, let's see -- first of all, I'm going to identify the problem.
Problem: Senators and Representatives aren't doing the job they are purportedly supposed to be doing (looking out for the best interests of the American people and defending the Constitution/Bill of Rights of the United States).

Then I'm going to spend quite a bit of brain power figuring out WHY.

Is it a party thing? Is it a politician thing? Is it a "Washington" thing? Are they the wrong people? Are they the right party? Etc.

And then, once I figure out what the REAL problem is, I'm going to fix it by either a) finding ways to motivate them to do the job I want them to perform, or b) firing them, and getting some new employees who WILL do as they're requested.

Censure is Step One. Impeachment is Step Two. New President in 2006 (because the Dems figure out that the American people want the White House CLEANED OUT AND PROMISE TO IMPEACH, thus giving 64% of the country INCENTIVE TO VOTE) is Step Three.

(Step Two and a Half is making sure the votes are counted in a non "glitchy" fashion, but that is a discussion for another forum.)

And in the meantime, I'm going to use THIS forum to not only educate the ill-informed, but also to brainstorm with other sensible problem solving types on how to accomplish my REAL goals (which have less to do with the Democratic party and their useless minions, and more to do with sane, sensible solutions for ALL AMERICANS, specifically, GETTING A NON-CORRUPT HARDWORKING SENSIBLE DEMOCRAT INTO THE WHITE HOUSE).

Is that clear enough for you?

11. I guess I'm confused....
I thought you liked democrats and hated republicans. Now I see that you hate democrats AND republicans and have sent 2841 messages or posting on a forum for democrats.

Please tell me. What EXACTLY will censuring Bush do for Americans?

Tell me how many Republicans will vote to impeach Bush.

How long it take to impeach bush.

What will Impeachment will do for Americans.

Then please tell me who in the heck do you think will lead the country.

Chaney? no - he'll would have to leave or be thrown out too.

Hastert? Maybe. He's gotta be better than bush... Ohhh wait. He's corrupt.

Maybe the congress could vote Delay into office then. Would you be satisfied with that selection?

C'mon. Lets get over this BS

7. This criminal enterprise that is in charge now is all about symbolism.
We need some symbols of our own. Censure is not 'symbolic only' because it is a clear and unambiguous demonstration of this country's rejection of the criminal attitudes of those running our government.

To not censure illegal acts of the president, when the president has an approval rating of 36% and a disapproval rating of 60% is flat out cowardly. There is nothing to lose, and everything to gain by taking a stand.

9. I know, I know... I'm sort of playing the Devils Advocate
I only hear some DU'ers asking for Censure. The Repugs would never vote for it anyway. For Christs sake! The Dems didn't even vote for it.

Lets move on!
