"...lack of attention of a high order."
One minor point all Democrats and all Americans should remember. Just because the Democrats never made an issue of it in 2001 or when the memo was discovered does not minimize the stark truth of what has happened and is happening to our nation. Yes, the President admitted he broke the law!

<snip>

I ran into a gray eminence from the Bush I era the other day in an airport, and he said that what most offended him about Bush II is the naked incompetence. "You may disagree with Republicans, but you always had to recognize that they knew what they were doing," he said. "I keep going back to that intelligence memo of August 2001, that said that terrorists had plans to hijack planes and crash them into buildings. The president read it, and he didn't even call a staff meeting to discuss it. That is lack of attention of a high order."

1. Why in the world have the Dems not backed Feingold?
To me it is a no-brainer.

BTW, checked out your journal-nice! I'm glad I have a place to check out your posts, which are always thought-provoking.

3. He was on vacation. Some things can wait.
Actually, there was a Principal's Meeting scheduled for 9/12 at which the brand new, lower, wider, longer GOP-designed counter-terrorsism strategy was due to be rolled out. That's why Pakistani ISI Gen. Ahmad was in Washington.

Unfortunately, bin Laden got the drop on them.

That's why all those memos and warnings and PDBs were ignored. To do anything dramatic beforehand would have disrupted their nice, neat little plan.
