Bush approval rating among Democrats is 97.73%
Senate Democrats, that is.

There are 44 Democrats in the Senate. One supports censure and, so far, 43 do not. That equals 97.73% of the Senate approving of Bush's conduct.

1. Kerry and Boxer supposedly support it.
As far as what their offices are saying.

I'd like to see them go on TV and support it.

4. Well, if that's true
then the approval rating goes down to 93.2%

18. What's there to investigate? Obama doesn't know that Bush broke the law?
Or perhaps Obama is waiting from guidance from the other Democrats that are "investigating" this further?

If Bush were to rob a bank, will Obama say that he needs to investigate the matter, or will he join the GOP in passing a law saying that it is not illegal for Bush to rob banks?

21. "Supposedly"? LOL, this aint horseshoes
You either support it or you don't. Until they make it clear, they haven't jumped on Feingold's bandwagon, unless you have a link stating otherwise, that is.

6. Approval, or lack of Censure?
Ah, it's the second.

I don't see why it's so surprising they would shy away from this. The Republicans, after all, suffered major blow-back from impeaching Clinton.

It is going to take time to make the case, which will be a public process. And every day while that case is being made, Bush will be getting more and more heat. Like a boil being squeezed, every time the pressure is on, pus will spurt out. The grounds for censure will grow into grounds for impeachment. Grounds for impeachment will, hopefully, turn into a groundswell.

This isn't even close to a loss yet.

10. I have to disagree.
This thing is rapidly heading into yesterdays news. If the Dems don't press it now it will soon be buried in the huge pile of broken laws and bungled endeavors that define Bushco.

11. That is BS
If you calling taking control of all levers of power in our government "blow-back", I can only lament your confusion and lack of clarity concerning the facts of the issue. If there was ANY blow-back in regard to Clinton's impeachment it was because he was very popular at the time and he was being hounded relentlessly by a well financed BushCo attack machine.

12. How did you read that into my post?
Confusion and lack of clarity? I'm repeating what I've seen and heard legislators say on TV. It's not MY confusion and lack of clarity.

I'm NOT calling taking control of all levers of power in our government "blow-back". I don't fear it -- the legislators do. Several have said this very thing over the last several years (from many issues), so it's no secret. They fear that censure or impeachment will allow Bush to regain all those lost Republicans, out of pity. The stakes are high. They want a legally air-tight case first, and they don't have it yet. They also have scandalously weak support from ... US.

I'd prefer a stronger approach, myself, but the Democrats in Congress know that they'll get absolutely no help from us, not even from most of the firebrands. We're extremely fickle, and just as likely to complain about them no matter what they do. You do understand that Finegold is being attacked on-line (here at DU) for NOT going after impeachment too, right? They know they can't win with us, let alone the Press, so they're playing it safe. In contrast, the Republicans have just about always backed their politicians.

Your frustration is understandable. I'm frustrated, too. But leave me out of your circular firing squad. The direction for our fire is outward -- toward the Republican Partisans and especially the Bushistas. All it really takes is one well-placed shot, and they've been giving us hundreds of opportunities -- each week. Meanwhile, we could do a better job encouraging the elected Democrats, rather than screaming "TRAITOR! WHORE!" every time one of them fails to anticipate the on-line mood.

It takes guts to stand alone and endure the "slings and arrows."

At least three support censure. Kerry, Boxer, Feingold. Not sure about Kennedy yet. Haven't heard. But I imagine him too.

16. Perhaps Feingold should have made his case first
First, to the public at large, so people would understand why he was introducing this resolution. Second, to the Senate Democrats so they wouldn't be blind-sided. And third, to the entire Senate so they would know what he means by getting a vote and then "getting back to work". Maybe he's not that interested in a real investigation at all, in which case I wouldn't support him if I were a Senate Democrat either.

17. I think Bush has made the case well enough...
If somebody stabs you in the back, you shouldn't need a third party to explain to you why your assailant should be put on trial and sent to prison.

19. The only thing being "blind-sided" is the Constitution
Bush admitted he broke the law, and he dared anyone to do anything about it. Who was blind-sided by Feingold? The pollsters, the focus groups, the pukish "Democratic strategists"?

20. We could use this opportunity to send....
...a powerful message to our democratic leaders, by supporting Feingold in a BIG way. Emails, letters, phone calls. When the 2008 polls come out again, Feingold should be on top of the list. That would let them know where we stand!! If we can't do that...then we aren't any better than they are!
