Happy Dance! Dean is coming to my city Tuesday!!!!!
OMG! I'm really excited about this. I have been a Dean supporter for about a year. I live right outside Tacoma, Washington. Dean is very popular in Seattle, but I've been nagging on the blogs, etc. to get him to Tacoma, where it is much more blue-collar, there are two military bases adjacent to Tacoma, it's an area where he could really make an impact. He is I just received word that he is coming to Tacoma on Tuesday afternoon. :toast:

Okay.. Am I totally dorky for being so excited?

1. Congrats, caliphoto! I'm waiting for a real Cleveland visit from him.
He's been here a couple of times (low profile) but never for a rally because this is Kucinich turf. I can't wait 'till he decided to come for the Super Tuesday campaigning.

3. I got to see them both speak
in Lake Placid this year. Kerry and Edwards too. Lieberman attended via satellite.

4. I don't think he doesn't come here because it's
Kucinich turf (actually, I don't think there IS much Kucinich turf in Ohio, but that is MHO). We just rate real low on the radar of any of the candidates because of our late primary. Even though we are essential, vital, and a must-win state in the GE. I think that is a HUGE mistake, but then I've been saying that for months.

7. Actually, that's been the reason since he was at single-digits...
Here in Cleveland, we were told that he was respecting Kucinich turf and were asked to be respectful of Kucinich supporters. We were also told that the reason he wasn't doing rallies in Ohio was because of Kucinich. This is from Summer '03

15. This is news to me and, okay,
pretty stooopid as well. Anyone who knows NEOhio (discounting DK's own district of which I know nada) pretty much acknowledges that there ain't gonna be a tremendous "favorite son" groundswell. I've been saying for MONTHS that DK is a helluva lot more popular OUTSIDE of OH than IN it.

Is that REALLY the reason the Dem nominees have stayed away? I don't mean just Dean, I mean ALL of them. Ohio has been completely IGNORED during the primary process (except by Bush & Cheney) I excused it because of our late primary. Please tell me it's NOT out of some kind of "hands off" policy because of Kucinich. Because if that IS it, well, GODDAMM. . .why the hell didn't someone ask US? WE could have told 'em. OH, shit, I HAVE been telling 'em.

Y'know - I'm a theatre person and the first rule of live theate is "know thy audience". You can spend billions on a campaign, but if you don't know your target audience, it's just pissing in the wind. Damn it all, ask US. WE'RE the audience. Ohio is is NOT Kucinich territory, NEOhio is NOT ipso facto Kucinich territory, and any Dem candidate that avoids it because of some pre-conceived notion isn't paying attention.

17. This was last summer, when Dean was in single digits. At the time, it
was a respect issue. Now that the primaries are under way, I think that will change. Once the voting begins, campaigning is fair game.

2. I say "Howard"
You say, "Dean!"
howard Dean! Howard. DEAN!
I went to a Hinchey (Maurice Hinchey D-NY) event today and there were about 200 people there.

It was electrifying! Tuesday can't come too soon! :~)

6. Before the Iowa and NH showings
he told the house parties that he would be coming after the Feb 3 primaries. There is supposed to be a City Club visit and some fundraisers and a rally one hopes. Don't know if that has changed.

9. Tacoma is said to be a "spirited rally".
Tacoma has lots of spirit and oomph. Should be a rocking good time. Tacoma was also named the most stressful city in the country (which I don't agree with), but it is beset with social problems due to high unemployment. Dean couldn't pick a better venue. I hope he comments on that stupid designation while he's here.. and then takes off on the job loss and creation stuff. We need jobs here.. desperately.

8. God no, its not dorky, its great that you are excited.
Don't miss your chance to see him and hear him speak. I heard him almost a year ago at our state convention and he was electrifying, it was such a rush and it was the most hopeful I had felt since the chimp took office. Be sure to go see him, take lots of friends with you!

14. off topic
This thread is not about DK. It is about Dean. DK's numbers are beside the point, because he had neither frontrunner status nor 41 million to blow. :-) I have been enjoying the Hindenburg of a campaign known as Howard Dean.

16. I think your post is the one that is off topic
This thread is not about deriving joy from one's losses.

18. I am deriving joy from Dean's collapse
But it always makes me laugh when Dean supporters bring up DK as if that is going to sting me or hurt my feelings or something. Always a good laugh, those Dean supporters. ;-)

19. It's also rather funny
that you are supporting someone as wonderful, progressive, and peaceful as Dennis Kucinich, but have such a poor and destructive attitude toward a fellow Dem.

20. It's a great attitude
Because Dean is a Republican in every way but name only. I have fought long and hard against his nomination for this past year, and his demise is finally coming to pass. Thanks for trying to personalize your attack though. ;-)

but call me a dork too because just the idea of Dean coming to my neck of the woods makes me giddy! :D

But that is so awesome! Are you going to get to see him? You will definitely have to keep us updated! :)
