Arab American News Endoreses Clark
http://www.arabamericannews.com/Images%20folder/article_en_1.pdf

Our Nation is in crisis as never before. We are at war, facing tough economic challenges and in danger of losing our very soul- existence of the very freedoms we cherish. We have lost the respect of most of the world. A small cabal of extremist neoconservatives has taken over the day-to-day running of our country and the long term vision of what we should be and where we should go.

It may be that a presidential election never mattered like this one does. The very nature and continued existance of Amercia is at stake.

6. Don't know how influential they are
Assuming they do have some influence, this is good news for Clark in Michigan, which has a large Arab American population.

11. The Arab American Political Action Committee
has endorsed kucinich.

The Arab American Anti-Discrimination site looks as though they might be 503(C) as they haven't endorsed anyone.

I don't know how influential they each are, but if you go to each site, you can see what each emphasises over the other.

The other thing is the same thing we talk about with every endorsement: how much does it really sway the voters...especially in this instance where we have 2 candidates being endorsed and I can tell which way the Anti-Discrimination one leans...

The break-down after Michigan votes should prove interesting.

18. Got back today
Was on an extended work road trip. Changed my schedule around so I could be in NH helping on Primary day, went to the Clark event there that night, and flew to California the nest day. It was one 0f those always working type trips, and I don't have a lap top. Flew back into NH this AM on a red eye, then drove home to upstate NY.

It was hard not being able to check into the board or follow the campaign closely. I did a check in on a Clark Supporters thread earlier today. Now I am going to get some sleep! I will say it was an electrifying moment when Clark slipped ahead of Edwards in NH. Wish you all could have been there for that , or to hear Wes talk that night. He was a real inspiration. Earlier, several of us got to spend about 5 mins. with Gert talking while standing outside at a polling booth. I love that woman too.

15. This is good news
But I don't know how much of an impact this will have on the ground here in Michigan at this late stage. Kerry has it pretty much locked up. However if Clark can bump up a few percentage points it will mean getting some delegates and that would be great.

The Arab-American community is getting more politically active and savvy. It's very large in southeast Michigan but underrepresented at the polls and in local office, for a number of reasons. Community leaders are making a more concerned effort, in the current political context, to make the community more visible. The Republicans have traditionally gotten a fair amount of support from this community but I think that's mostly a thing of the past, I hope.
