The worst part about the article below is the wonderful Democrat at the end admitting he voted for Bush in 04!! That man is a huge supporter of Harry Reid ...you really gotta read the statements below to understand who the idiots are who make up the 39% who still support Bush ...

Rural voters no easy sell for Dems
Disapproval

RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL
Posted: 3/5/2006

Don't count Elko retiree Jerry Parker among the 60 percent of Americans who disapprove of the job President Bush is doing running the country.

A series of interviews with Republicans in rural Nevada during a campaign ride last weekend with U.S. Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., found Republicans are loath to turn on their party because of the national controversies.

Rather, they are angry at Democrats for "silly attacks."

Whether it's the domestic spying flap, the bungled response to Hurricane Katrina, the ongoing Iraq war, or giving a company owned by the United Arab Emirates control of some of the country's ports, Republicans interviewed by the Reno Gazette-Journal sided with Bush.

"He's doing a great job," Parker said. "Especially with the opponents he's got."

Parker, a retired geological engineer, moved to Elko with his wife, Charletta, in 1988.

Vice President Dick Cheney's accidental shooting of a hunting buddy didn't diminish his standing in the eyes of rural voters, Charletta Parker said.

"That was absolutely silly," she said. "That was an accident. He was so sorry he was almost tearful."

Similarly, the domestic wiretapping controversy hasn't given the Parkers pause.

"I'd have 'em up on charges if they weren't doing it," Jerry Parker said.

4. I know this man. He is actually a very nice man ...but brainwashed
let's say I blame it on the media. If these folks only chose to listen to Fox ...and our local paper is so damn right wing ...then a man Jerry Parker's age is going to not hear about another version of news or reality. He probably doesn't surf the web.

This is what we are up against, folks. It's the voices of the folks in that 39% that still think Bush and Cheney are GODS!!!

8. I knew men just like him....
Worked hard all day to put food on the family, and then relaxed in front of the tube...

back when I was a kid, Faux news didn't exist. It was a kinder, gentler time.

7. I lived there briefly
Or at least out by Fernley, and no, it's not better than Elko. Don't even get me started, I felt like I was rescuing my children from hell on earth. I've lived in Biloxi MS and Little Rock AR, and I would take my family to either of those places before I'd move back to rural Nevada. Glad you're enjoying it though, truly!!

9. I have some good news for you
In Zogby's Feb 20th poll on bush he had 50% approval in rural areas. In Zogby's most recent poll he has only 44% approval in rural areas. Now at least this shows that the rural US is moving in the proper direction.

14. silly freepers
Thousands of people left drowning didn't do it for you, eh, Mr. Parker? That's a "silly" "Democrat" controversy, hmm. Well just WTF does it take for you to realize you have a coked up frat boy in the office of the presidency?

I feel for you, NVMojo. I used to live around people like that, too, but I ditched the state for the very blue NJ.
