Sen. Clinton Says Wear 'Anger' As Honor
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 06:19 PM by iconocrastic
<snip>Responding to Republican claims that she may be too angry to win national office, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton told an audience Monday to wear such criticism as "a badge of honor" and suggested that gender played a role in the attacks. Democrats, particularly Democratic woman, who run for public office are "going to draw some unfriendly fire," Clinton said at a breakfast fundraiser hosted by black and Hispanic women supporters. "People will be attacking you instead of your ideas, they may impugn your patriotism, they may even say you're angry." "If they do that, wear it as a badge of honor, because you know what? There are lots of things that we should be angry and outraged about these days," she said.

Curious on reactions to her strategy. Is she taking the bait by responding, or would she be better served by not, or some third alternative?

1. I'd like to see her "own" it and neutralize it.
Maybe that's what she's attempting.

3. I'm glad she accepted the challenge head-on.
Instead of allowing the Republicans to use "anger" as a weapon against her, painting her as shrill, she gladly accepted the challenge and can use that as a springboard to elaborate on all the stuff we as Americans to be pissed off about.

4. Make them come to YOU!!!!
Wow, she's GOT IT--she's making the issues come down to GENDER BIAS and a hand-wringing, obsessive ROVE.

Democrats, particularly Democratic woman, who run for public office are "going to draw some unfriendly fire," Clinton said at a breakfast fundraiser hosted by black and Hispanic women supporters. "People will be attacking you instead of your ideas, they may impugn your patriotism, they may even say you're angry."

Turn them into cartoons, that what she is doing. Dismissive ZINGERS. Targeted audience. Very clever!!!

Good for her!

6. Way to go Hillary!
Turn it right back on to them. She is right, you know. I haven't heard any criticism of her ideas or performance as a Senator. Only that she is "angry".

You know what? So am I.

7. Yep, but I'm also angry at Hillary for her IWR vote.
I think she knew better, and would not have voted this way if she weren't already planning a Presidential run.

She will always have this need to look "tough" cause she's a "woman" running for President.

8. Why the question in the first place? Men........
.....don't apologize for their anger. Suggesting that a woman shouldn't show anger is definitely gender bias and it's WRONG.:grr: I've got a question, would you be asking the same question of a guy?

I'm dammed angry about Bush&Co too and I don't even try to hide it and neither should she.:bounce:

10. Since you asked, there are definitely differences in how men handle
anger from women than anger from men. Right or wrong? Or just the way it is?

Hil, you won't get the Marquis Presidency you want this way. Just chill, you can show up in '12 and offend me with your feigned human interest then. For now, stow it. Thanks.
