Santorum and McCain becoming allies
Why am I not surprised?

Snip: < Sens. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) may seem an odd couple, but they are locking arms on lobbying reform as Santorum casts himself in the election-year role of clean-government champion and McCain seeks to establish his bona fides with conservative voters before the 2008 Republican presidential primary.

McCain, the paramour of the Senate press corps, made a cameo appearance praising Santorum in the Pennsylvanian’s news release on the issue Tuesday, hours after the first of two reform-legislation committee markups this week.

“I commend Sen. Santorum for offering several important lobbying reform amendments in the Rules Committee today,” McCain said.

The newfound policy partnership is notable because the Arizona maverick seldom endorses the legislative priorities of Santorum, the Republican Conference chairman and an icon of the conservative movement. >

2. This is laughable
McCain has always been a supporter of campaign finance reform and at least has been consistant in going though the motions to clean things up.

Sanscrotum on the other hand has done diddly squat. Now that he's in such serious trouble he probably wants some photo ops with McCain. Anything to help him with his dismal poll numbers. McCain is ever the Repug whore for going along with it.

5. I'm sure Rick is using McCain
He needs the support of a high profile Repug.

McCain lets himself be used. Or maybe he is trying to get more support from the RW wackcos who seem to love Sanscrotum in order to postion himself for his primary run for prez. Wouldn't surprise me.

Neither one of them have much credibility with me. I used to kind of like McCain back in 2000. And we'd be in a whole lot better shape if he'd become president rather than Bush. Now I just find him to be a continual Bush apologist. Oh he blusters now and then but always ends up falling in line.

Maybe Bush asked him to say something nice about poor little Ricky.
