to get the inmates in shape, happy now? God forbid he got the kids excited about his campaign and they got carried away. It's their future Bush is running into hell and if it weren't for Dean the others wouldn't have grown a spine

Dean had X-ray pictures to the contrary. He served them up before they were asked for. Sking was alot more fun than the war.

7. saddens me that dean runs campaign on backs of underaged
(< 18 years old) children....

which is illegal by Federal Election Laws....Doonesbury has brought the 'underaged' issue up in numerous cartoons, but dean still won't stop....

and then, dean partied-hardy and wasted all those children's money....it's real pathetic....espectially for a doctor to take advantage of children.....

But, it's also fair to say those old guys in union jackets haven't brought much change to Washington in the last couple of decades.

Maybe it's time the "kids" had a voice.

corruption years before you were a twinkle in you grandfather's eye. Study business law. Kids should learn and study as much as they can until they are old enough to cast a vote. That is where HD went wrong - he rallied the troops like some sort of rock concert, forgetting that they could not VOTE!!!!

46. actually, yes, from corruption
GOP propaganda aside, unions are some of the *least* corrupt organizations in the country. Compare them to corporations - or churches - and you'll find the incidence of corruption and crime is significantly less.

20. Of course.
kids need to learn. Dr. Dean teaches first grade. Or something like that. Be aware! Politics is a war without casualties. That is why it is one of the only improvements humankind has ever made. Politics has a mixed record. The joy is that people seek it,the job is to make it work and be fair.
Thats what Liberals do. Check their record. If you are not amazed you should be.

14. kids?
What's all this about Dean using "kids" who are too young to vote? I just assumed the "kids" were college students. People 18-22 or so get referred to as kids pretty frequently.

Right??

32. *SMACK*
I was soliciting votes when I was FOUR. Nothing is more American than volunteering on a campaign.

Hell, even Ritchie Cunningham volunteered for the Stevenson campaign in the first couple of seasons of Happy Days. It is absolutely impossible to get any more "All-American" than the behavior of a Ron Howard character. Look it up.

25. I age 36 canvased for him this weekend
I was paired with a lady who is clearly older than I (no one asks a lady her age). The other people were all older than I save two who were the teen aged kids of the man in charge. Thus at 36 I was below the median age. I met one Dean supporter (we did a lit drop) she was very young. Age 82. Yep 82 years. So many youths.

27. Yeah.. funny.. but has Trudeau been to a Dean Meetup lately?
The ones that I attended, the people that were taking phone lists.. all at LEAST 40. There wasn't a person under 40 in that room. The flashmob for Dean that Doonesbury immortalized? Most were middle aged there... While the comic is funny. It is really perpetuating the myth that Dean only appeals to high school and college kids. There is a group of supporters that are young, but look at any of his rally photos.. mostly middle aged and up. We do him and his supporters a disservice by buying into those offensive ads in Iowa about Dean supporters.

28. The "Dean Machine" proved It's how, not how many.
As a party we should take a lesson from the Dean/Trippi strategy. No, not as Doonsbuery seems to suggest, that college kids with cool hats do not an organization make, but that we're going to have to win by turning out our existing base through the tried and true methods--building relationships and spending money.

If we get caught up in the fashionable "bringing new voters in to the process" shtick that even McAuliffe is paying lip service to, we'll lose.

Dean brought a whole bunch of new voters in, and then got summarily whipped by old fashioned politicing.

47. When I canvassed for Dean this weekend
I met a lot of union guys who were voting en bloc for Dean - their unions had endorsed him.

I also met a lot of old people - plenty of women in their 80s, who were voting for him becaues "he was the only one showing any enthusiasm" (re: I have a Scream).

So, I don't think there is anything to worry about here.
