Clark rips Kerry on affirmative action
Democratic presidential contender Wesley Clark on Friday criticized rival John Kerry for failing to take responsibility for comments he said Kerry made about affirmative action.

"When you make a mistake you ought to fess up to it, take responsibility for it, and correct it,” Clark said while visiting historically black Benedict College. “We need leadership that will take responsibility in this country, and I’m very disturbed that John did not do that.”

In a candidate debate Thursday night, moderator Tom Brokaw of NBC News asked Kerry about reservations he said the senator had expressed in the 1990s concerning affirmative action. Brokaw quoted Kerry as having described the policy as representing a culture of dependency.

Kerry responded that he had been describing what critics of affirmative action had said and then contended he had agreed with President Clinton and others who wanted to “mend it, not end it.”

2. How do both Clark and Kerry
supporters feel about this?

I've always thought of "mend it, not end it" as a cop-out myself.

10. Until we end the horribly inequitable school system in this country,
which produces 2 tiers of education for the haves and have nots, we'll need affirmative action. Because of the unjust and cruel property tax system, the poorest communities suffer from schools with deplorable infrastructure, poor teachers, and few to none resources. Children coming out of these schools must be given a hand up to compensate. We should abolish the property tax system and refuse federal matching funds to states which do not distribute educational monies equally across all schools.

4. Go Clark!
Rip that dullard a new butt hole. I hope Clark and Dean together chew Kerry up and spit him out. He's pirating Dean's message and playing dirty.

5. Clark's comments
are outrageous. They better get better intelligence if they want to play with the big boys. Kerry is not against affirmative action. If you read the entire statement you would know that.

8. If You Read CLARK'S Statement You Would Know That
Clark is talking about Kerry owning up to his OWN WORDS which he denied ever speaking during the last debate.

Brokaw confronted Kerry with his own comment and Kerry denied ever saying it.

Clark says LEADERSHIP is about taking responsibility for the words that come out of your mouth and NOT BULLSHITING during a debate to make yourself look better.

Clark has YET TO TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT in this race!

He stood up for Moore for a WEEK before he finally had to tone it down... because the media was crucifying him.

And Kerry says it was "over the top".

14. Kerry one of the big boys??
ARE YOU KIDDING? Kerry had chance to be a big boy and stand up to Bush in October 2002. Instead he chose to cover his own ass and vote for Bush's Iraq resolution.

Nothing confusing about that.
