White House fires back at Katrina critics

Bush touted his "freedom" agenda, so this must be the "denial" agenda.

White House fires back at Katrina critics

NEW DELHI (AFP) - The White House defended US President George W. Bush's handling of Hurricane Katrina after video footage surfaced of him being warned of potential devastation from the killer storm.

Bush has previously said he was not pleased by the government response to the storm, but has also suggested that Washington did not have a clear picture of just how bad the situation would get, especially in New Orleans.

With critics noting that the president did not ask a single question at an August 28 briefing and insisted that "we are fully prepared," the White House fired back that he was heavily involved in preparations.

"President Bush participated in briefings, phone calls and conversations throughout this process, and his administration was focused on making sure that the federal assets were in place to help the people of New Orleans," Bush spokesman Trent Duffy said in a statement.

3. Actions speak louder than words.
They can say whatever they want; I can see for myself what happened.

4. That statement itself is an admission of guilt....
They really don't get it.

They just admitted that the chimp is guilty of negligent homicide.

Maybe they are still unaware of what actually happened in New Orleans.

5. He is just too stooopid to be preseeeedent
He listened to all that and all he could say is that "we are fully prepared".

Gee, he thought we were fully prepared.

Golly, he thought that WMD intelligence was good.

He is just too stupid to be president. His CYA statements prove it as much as his actions/inactions do.

10. You've hit the nail squarely Jun
he listened to six days of dire predictions from experts and trusted sources and assimilated that to "we are fully prepared" which was a) a vast oversimplification, and b) either wrong or a lie. How did this guy get ANYONE to vote for him?

17. THAT was their "fully prepared" response?
Lordy, I'd hate to see what might have happened to New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast if Katrina had caught them totally with their pants down. Why, we'd probably see photos of Bush, I don't know, cutting birthday cake with John McCain or playing a ceremonial guitar wrong, if they hadn't been "fully prepared"!

Just how stupid does the White House think we are? I know how stupid they think the media talking chuckleheads are, and they're largely right. But to think that the general population is that stupid is pretty insulting.

9. White House fires back...OK...
Regardless of how involved the White House SAYS Bush was, the fact is he is on film doing nothing. Not engaged. Not involved. Not asking any questions.

How do you get involved when you're supposed to be the leader, and you aren't engaged in the activities?

16. The levees broke because of Clinton. Heard it today on
RW radio - whoever that gasbag is that's taking Limbaugh's place (Roger somebody) asserts that the "Clinton budget cuts" were responsible for the failure of the levees.

I almost ran the car into the ditch laughing. Sad part of it is, their "base" believes that garbage.
