Attacks On This Board So Bring It On...

You say he voted for the Iraq War Resolution well so did Tom Harkin, Chris Dodd, and Hillary Rodham Clinton...

You say he voted for "No Child Left Behind" well so did Ted Kennedy....

You say he voted for the Patriot Act well so did ninety eight other senators....

To call Kerry a pseudo Republican is rediculous... The man has a higher lifetime ADA rating than Ted Kennedy...

If he's our nominee I will follow the lead of the senior senator from Massachussetts and support him vigorously...

4. Kerry is more liberal than Clinton or Gore
and he has a military background that both men didn't. In a time of war, that will be what puts Kerry over the top.

6. true, but not in the capacity that Kerry did
I don't think Gore himself would compare what he did in Vietnam to what Kerry did, both there and once he came home.

7. I Believe He Was Only One Of Twelve Senators Who Had The
Nads to oppose DOMA when DOMA was "cool"

People need to check out how some of the heroes of this board like Bobby Byrd voted on DOMA...

And I'll bet he's proud of his DOMA vote....

8. .
No,it's much more productive to jump on the current frontrunner and cry foul when your own candidate gets attacked.

In all seriousness, these attacks on Kerry are just so tiresome and revealing of some characters here.
When Republicans pick on attacking a Democrat,it only increases my support for the Dem.The same applies to Democrats who get attacked by Democrats. Was the case with Dean, was the case with Clark and it's now the case with Kerry.

11. I think Edwards, Kerry, and Clark have a decent shot at beating Bush
though they all bring liabilities and assets to the table....

Obviously Clark and Edwards would play better in the south but Kerry 's biography and experience are a big plus...

The thing that troubles me about Kerry is we are back to the "Inside Straight Flush" Electoral College strategy where we have to "concede" the south and held on to all the Gore states and "steal" a couple of Bush states...

This is doable witn Kerry but I don't think it's doable with DK, HD, or JL....

9. I think the party will unite very quickly within 6 weeks.
For Democrats, this is going to be the most unified campaign season of my lifetime.

14. I agree
Even though I'm for Clark, I'm a Democrat first. Kerry's a strong candidate, and I would be proud to stand up for him, if he wins the nomination.

I was actually getting a bit depressed by the avalanche of anti-Kerry comments. I guess we should expect more of that in the weeks to come, but at some point the negative attacks on our nominee (whoever it turns out to be) will merely parrot the slime tossed out by the freepers.

I will be disappointed if it isn't Clark but I am committed to any Democrat that gets the nomination and I don't like the 'badmouthing' of them.

19. Not To Knock Dean, Kucinich, Lieberman, and Dean
but I believe Kerry's biography will give him at least a modicum of insulation from Pug attacks...

They all have weaknesses and strengths but I believe Kerry is capable of beating * with a Gore + strategy.... Hold all the Gore states and perhaps add West Virginia , New Hampshire, and Colorado....

I like Edwards and Clark alot but it's hard to envision a scenario at this time where they can knock off Kerry...

Tuesday night's primary will reveal alot... IMHO, Edwards, Dean and Clark have to win at least one primary to remain viable....

21. My Defense Of Kerry Is Based On The Fact That He Has A 93 Lifetime ADA
Rating...

Just as we shouldn't judge an individual by their worst act we shouldn't judge a politician by their worst vote...

I am sure I can find a vote or support of a position by any candidate that you or I would find fault with....

22. My sentiments exactly.
Clark supporter here.

But I will gladly place my vote for Kerry.

The tactics being employed are counterproductive to what I value most anyway imo.

Getting * out of the Whitehouse.

23. Clark supporter who likes Kerry, here
I always liked Kerry's record. I never held his vote for the IWR against him. It might have been only a handful of months ago, but it was different times. Non-partisanship in matters like that seemed to be what the country really needed and wanted. What changed the tenor of the times was how the Bush administration treated the power they were entrusted with.

Kerry was an early and vocal critic of Bush's handling of the whole thing. I was much more bothered by Gephardt's enthusiasm for the invasion than Kerry's vote.

My reservation about Kerry was confined to doubts about his ability to connect with people all over the country in a campaign. He seems to have improved a lot in that regard. My informal focus group - people in my family who vote Democratic, but don't follow politics closely - are reacting positively now that they see a lot of him on TV. They like him and feel inclined to trust him.

I still prefer Clark and if he's not the nominee I'd certainly hope he'd either be on the ticket or in a prominent and powerful place in the administration because I think that would be good for the country.
