Please, let's follow Clinton's comments
about Karl Rove (I am sure it was posted here yesterday):

Talking about the 2008 Presidential election distracts from the immediate goals: taking back the House and the Senate this fall, so that there would be no more Roberts and Scalito, among other things.

On occasions DUers express their preferences for the 2008 candidate. My opinion is that at this point - no one, since a lot can happen from now and the end of 2007.

But, really, this can be disruptive.

1. Focus should be on 2006 election
HC isn't my first choice, but I think she would do a great job.

3. Here's a funny thing to remember about the '04 election...
....that actually shows why your post is so true.

Just 18 months before election day 2004 (according to a CBS Poll), 64% of Democrats couldn't even name the candidates who were running!

Here's what the response from Democratic voters was when they asked them who was running:

Among Democrats

No, cannot recall any
64%
------------
Joe Lieberman
10%
------------
John Kerry
5%
------------
Richard Gephardt
5%

Bob Graham
2%

John Edwards
4%

Al Sharpton

Howard Dean

Others

So yeah, you're right.. ..we need to focus on 2006 for now! :patriot:

5. Thanks for that. Also, for most of the years between 2000 and 2004
Lieberman was the "front runner" - a simple name recognition.

4. This is classic Rove
Get all of us to focus on something further off, something "bigger" as they raid the treasury, spy on us without warrants, certify the Diebold machines for 2006 and avoid having to deal with a Democratic Congress impeaching Idiot Son after stealing another election. We need to keep our eyes on the prize -- which currently is Congress (especially the House).
