Someone tell me....do our politicians even look at sites like these before they go tv or radio?

What I mean is, there are treasure chests of information in sites like these and often times the information is days ahead of the electronic information loop.

It seems to me that the Biden's and Joementum's of the world are too damned arrogant and proud to utilize the information found at these great sites.

Hell, if I was a politician in Washington I'd require a staffer to examine these places every day for the information that is provided.

1. I don't think so....
I've mentioned a few of those sites to our State reps and I get a blank stare......

I'm doing my best to drag them (kicking and screaming if necessary) into the blogosphere...we have a local party blog site but I haven't got them posting yet...ummmmm....okay, okay, okay...much less READING it yet.

2. That's what I always wonder

A politician could get a real jump on an issue. They could have lots of ammunition when they go into that Congress chamber, courtroom or media scrum.

I don't know why every public figure doesn't have at least ONE dedicated internet media-savvy person on board.

A strategy of waiting for the MSM to publish the whole story is doomed to failure.

Sometimes, I just want to scream at them, they're so uninformed. When a simple link on a blog or a Google search could give them everything they want.

they end up voting for. Some of it is wingnut crap about which Democrats are clueless.

4. Rep. John Conyers does
he's posted here, and I have a feeling that he has staff check out this site, too. That's why he knows it's worth it for him to post information here-he knows it will get out.

6. Gore, Boxer, Clinton at least
I know staffers/reps from those three "camps" frequent DU and other similar sites. If they do, others must.

13. As did Elizabeth Edwards
I only knew of DU because she mentioned it on the Kerry blog.

On Kerry's first Dkos blog, he mentioned that Teresa read the blogs often (and he had read them too). I would guess that most of the elected officials might at least have an intern or staffer look at them and summarize what's going on.

8. They're fools if they don't. IME they'd be throwing the baby out with
the bath water if they dismiss the very credible info here. If they're smart they'd at least have a volunteer or staff member keep up on what info is found and posted here as well as keep them posted with a basic synopsis of the important stuff as well as the over all "temperature" on issues.

As for do I think they do... I truly believe that at least a few do. :hi: I just hope and wish they'd USE the info and ammo they find here to fight for important Dem causes harder and smarter.

9. Their staff does
Hear about those wiki wars back a couple weeks ago? Congressional aids would change something on a person's bio and the other person would change it back? The kinds of people in charge on capital hill aren't the old wise men we see on tv, but rather 22-26 year olds who are very much more acquianted with this stuff. You'd a bet that Repug aids will also look at this site to get ideas in the sorta "know thy enemy" mentality.

14. Some do and some don't ......
.... I'm not one bit sure that the actual congresscritter reads it, but I'm pretty sure many of them have staffers do it.

Over the years, just here on DU, we've had name brand politicos post here. John Conyers, Elizabeth Edwards, Wes Clark's son, and others.

And, if you pay attention to what some of the politicos say on teevee, you just **know** they read the blogs.

When Paul Hackett did Tweety's show right after the dust-up with Brown, he was spouting lots of stuff I seem to recall **only** being discussed on the blogs.

I can't believe for a second that Howard Dean's staff doesn't check in here regularly.

But of course, there are also the totally clueless ones .....
