Carter and B.Clinton making Pro:Dub. Deal noises. Beam me up Scotty,no...
intelligent life forms in control on Sol 3. There are many intelligent people on the planet. We have to find them and get them in offices that matter, such as the Presidentcy of the U.S.A.. I am very disappointed in both Carter and B.Clinton. I guess they are both getting as soft as a grape in their declining years. Mama mia, what is going on with these 2 guys? Any insights on this one? Would Carter put a UAE guy in charge of his peanut farm? Probably. Whatever, ...Oscar

2. This is capitalism. The UAE paid for the ports. They should get it.
Edited on Sat Feb-25-06 04:12 PM by Selatius
If we are going to live in a society built on private ownership and control over resources everybody needs, then there is no reason why we should reject the UAE's bid for US ports when you have totalitarian China running ports in Los Angeles and, I believe, San Francisco.

15. What is "capitalism"? Having no moral scruples and selling America
Edited on Sat Feb-25-06 10:02 PM by shance
to the highest bidder by those who have no legal right to do so?

If that's "capitalism", I think Americans and citizens worldwide would be better served seeking other alternatives than that of perpetual selling off of anything and everything sacred by those who don't care about the damage they inflict on everyone else.

4. Hey, Oscar- both are supporters of Globalization, so their support
should come as no surprise.

That is all this deal is about- foreign investment in the US. At least we get to keep the ports, unlike all our jobs and dollars that have gone overseas.

Forget the Security factor. It was never and will never be there.

Trouble for the Admin is they got so many folks all hinky about the A-rabs that the Admin is having a helluva time getting the base to re-focus.

Off topic- did you get to the grocery store today?

7. This Response addresses this issue and answers my question.
Now that you have reminded me, I do recall both these former Democrat Presidents making a lot of positive noise about " Globalization " whatever that means. I do not see all the benefits that were supposed to come our way from "Globalization",coming our way. And surely our Nation cannot " Globalize Our National Security " to any degree. And, in my opinion, PORT SECURITY IS AT THE VERY TOP OF THE LIST" as to National security. What can I say, thanks for your response, ...Oscar

5. Carter probably beleives it'll help. Bill probably owns stock.
Hey, the Big Dawg was okay for the times but he's no FDR or HST, not even an LBJ.

He's just the best we could come up with when he ran against a guy who didn't know what a supermarket barcode scanner was.

And he was "our" guy against the Gingroach GOP, and the DeLays and others.

And he did do the right thing in Kosovo.

But he's still in it for the bucks and, like I've said elsewhere, I suspect he knows that the only thing left to do is to make as much as you can before the bottom bottoms out (its already dropping out for most of us).

Billy just ain't like you and me, babe, and that's the facts.

9. Hi Mike, I am getting some likely answers from you and others. I was...
always troubled by Carter`s self proclamation about being a born again Christian or whatever. Anyone who is willing to embrace such religious non-sense is capable of believing anything,. Very disturbing, and they take some sort of pride in it.If I am not mistaken, Carter was once the Captain of a nuclear armed submarine, I am not sure about that. I think Clinton made similar noises, but do not take him seriously about it. Whatever is selling at the moment,etc.. Thanks for your response, ...Oscar

to play THE GAME TO WIN. A very interesting proposition. At this point in time, DO WHATEVER WORKS. All of our futures are very much at stake now. A very interesting proposition that I consider a very real possibility. ...Oscar

8. For 2 ex SCL Prezs
who did not make that much of a fuss over the war and the pAtriot act...i'm not surprised...they could have been leaders in a lot of weird stuff, yet they put "tradition" of not butting in before the public good.

You know they know what is really going on, yet they smile and make it look like everythings ok

11. I just saw Clinton in Sydney and he called the ports move "scary"
for its implications: he said there's a real danger of people in power just deciding when and where the law does or does not apply to them.

tell Larry King something else. Very frustrating.

22. Already Damned Re: BHT knowledge and trying to make bucks...
Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 05:08 AM by oscarguy
The readily available compound commonly known as BHT is an effective treatment for Hepatitis C and B and, if my conclusions are correct, many other viruses. Do not take my word for that. CHECK IT OUT USING :< butylated hydroxytoluene+antiviral > in a google search. It is my hypothesis that BHT generates ionic and free radical reactions that very rapidly destroy lipid coated viruses in intra-cellular fluids and on and on. HIV is a lipid coated virus by the way. ...Oscar

18. Carter and Clinton belong to a very exclusive....
....club. Ex-presidents. And they usually have a different perspective on such things. Mainly that they have to assume, and wrongly in this case usually, that the current president knows more than they do.....mainly because they KNOW that when THEY were in office, they DID know more than everyone else. Of course the difference is that THEY usually, if not always, had the countries best interest at heart....not the best interests of the oil producing countries that the Bush's have close relationships with. I also believe that being classy ex-presidents, that they want to at least give the APPEARANCE of giving Bush the benefit of the doubt.

I DO wish that they would just say nothing, if they feel that way, but asking an ex to keep his mouth shut is not the easiest thing to accomplish.

21. It makes perfect sense to me - they have money and power
It's NOT about political party. Democratic or Republican leaning, those who savor wealth and political power (keyword SAVOR) are not like the rest of us hourly/salary wage working stiffs. To THEM it's a chess game, to us and our families, it's truly a matter of life and death.
