Is this the real scenario we're all puppets in?
Bring one up, slam him down.
Bring another up, slam him down.
ad nauseum.

Divide the party so we have no clear majorities at the convention.

The Draft Hillary movement swings into high gear just before the convention and the Senator (whom I adore) continues to say she promised the people of NY a full term.

But if the party drafts you in the second round the voters of NY will forgive you for taking on the bigger challenge and making them proud. She could not refuse.

Are we all puppets?
Are we all just pawns in a bigger game?

2. If it is and we are, we are doomed.
How in the world are we going to get voters to back someone that no one voted for in the primaries? Especially if it is Senator Clinton, who, besides the current pretender-in-chief, is the the most polarizing political figure in the country.

Nominating any U.S. Senator is a risky proposition, nominating any 1st term Senator is doubly risky. Nominating Clinton would be an electoral disaster - the whole way down the ticket. Democratic candidates for borough solicitor would be running for cover.

I hope you are wrong.

6. I disagree
America is sick of Bush and would vote for Hillary. Way before they would vote for Kerry IMHO.

8. I only agree with part of your scenario
The press is building up and tearing down each candidate in sequence just as you said. But the purpose is to create apathy among the Democratic Party voters so they will stay home on election day and give Bush* the election.

Remember, the media's job is to protect the status quo...and they're doing a hell of a job!

13. AP distorts Kerry's good deed verterans PAC-and doesn't fund re-elections
Kerry's verterans PAC is a good deed - and doesn't fund re-elections

but god-forbid that this make it into the story.

INSTEAD WE HAVE SPIN "I'm the only person in the United States Senate who has been elected four times who has voluntarily refused to ever take one dime of political action committee, special interest money in my elections," Kerry said just last week -While technically correct ...... - AND NOW WE SPIN?

AND A PAC THAT DOES GOOD, NOT USED FOR ELECTIONS IS
"Kerry collected more than $470,000 directly from companies and unions in 2002 for his Citizen Soldier Fund, and spent large amounts of it sowing goodwill in key primary states"

SO DOING GOOD IS NOW "SOWING GOODWILL" AND THAT PROVES KERRY IS A HYPOCRIT?

17. No. Hillary is not running.
I would be thrilled to see her as the first female President, but it's too soon for her. The Clinton years and divisiveness needs more time to die. Wait for 2008 or 2012 to see her rise. I will happily support her then.

18. Sorry Hamp, but there won't be a brokered convention. Too bad, tho
Let's not forget that this country began with a brokered convention in 1787. I think they did alright. I don't think we'll have one this year, but I'm pretty sure if we did we'd still get a candidate boodles better than Bush.
