5. That would be the lowest I have ever seen for a President in my lifetime!
They didn't report tricky Dick's truly foul ones in the AFRTS back then & I actually don't know what his were at the nadir of his popularity. But I would get orgasmic at the sight of * in the low thirties...

Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 07:42 PM by serryjw
there will be a United States to have a 'history of'? Now his polls will be 35% (IMHO!) but we still need the Congress to do something. Will they??

8. Let me guess:
Wall Street Journal: 48%+/- 17%

Fox News: 67% +/- 5%

ABC/WaPo: 51% +/- 8%

then they'll all be on the air saying that he's RESOLUTE! And that's why americans want to have a beer with him, even if their homes will be levelled by a nuclear blast. Whereas with Kerry, he'd be a bore, although they would have had 8 years of peace and prosperity. We can't be dull now, can we?

10. Near 40%
Even before the past two weeks there's been plenty of evidence of how harmful Bush is to this country. It will take far more evidence to open the eyes of those who still support him. Plus, there over 30% who will support any Republican regardless of what he does.

Bush has been around 40% give or take a few points in most polls, and most likely will remain there for the short run.

12. I'm not sure about that. This UAE thing, combined with cheney's lovely
shoot-out last week, will probably send them both down. My husband says high 20's.

14. Now I know why we have the administration that we have
Dead Eye Dick shoots his friend last week he was such a coward that he had to have his friend the girl rancher at his crime scene report this, I guess it was because he lacked the balls to come out and say it upfront. Bush said today he had no idea the Saudi's were in control of our ports, this was the American President that was supposed to be tough on terror, now we can see that is not a decision that the President makes but someone else. Who makes those decisions?
Maybe can see this for the sham that it always was. These folks are cowards and yet they willingly let thousands of our soldiers go out into a country to fight a war with no protective armour and no hope in end. Who are the people we entrust to take care of our country? America you are a very special place, you are a spiritual place, in Santa Fe I can see on a silent night and hold up my hand up and really touch the stars, how have we allowed this to happen now we have we allowed these people who only care about money and riches for themselves to take hold of this country, this country I call my America, my America I love you so much and how on earth did we ever allow this happen?

24. finally...
i thought i was the only one who was thinking like that.

If we continue to just play the "anybody but Bush" card, that's exactly what we will get in '08. That very well will be another republican.

We need our ideas front and center, not just fancy talking points about each Bush screw-up. For example, why aren't we out proposing that the US government should buy the port operations back from the British company? It's a logical resolution that makes the public feel safer, allows UAE to walk away not feeling like schmucks, and if run right should produce a profit.

Instead we wait to jump on Bush for however this turns out.

17. one thing is for sure
bush* doesn't know anything about it...

as my partner quipped "he's so deep in the bubble, and knows squat about what's going on that I'd bet - should he be impeached- it would come as a big surprise when the moving company shows up to clear out his desk...."

22. 34-36%
although the low 30s are plausible

See Bush still holds a 80-86% approval rating from republican, they fear losing, and loasing congress so much that Bush could eat a live baby on TV and they would still support him. So this deal will shave off a few points from his republican approval but true erosion will come from independents. If that approval dips into the high 20s then you can see some serious erosion in Bush's approvals. Republicans of today aren't so quick to abandon him as they abandoned daddy in '92 which gave them Clinton. But, this ports deal, major political and probably huge foreign policy fuck up. Because now he has his Dubai Arab buddies pissed off to no end that the deal might get blocked, the Navy's freaking out that their ships are going to get kicked out of Dubai, the GOP base is confused and fracturing and Democrats are digging in with both heels and not letting go of this issue.

oh and Carter's comments were a dig, "I'm sure the president's done a good job with his subordinates to make sure this is not a threat" Carter

a good job with his subordinates, key words.
