Do we know who was responsible for the Osama ad yet?
Or will we wait until tomorrow to find out who put there own selfish agenda ahead of our national interests?

18. We only knew that
a group called "Americans for Jobs, Health Care and Progressive Values" was responsible for it. I thought that former aides of both Gep and Kerry were associated with it.

Below is an excerpt from a Trippi email:

An Open Letter to All Democratic Presidential Campaign
Managers:

Dec. 16, 2003

Last week, a group called "Americans for Jobs, Health
Care and Progressive Values" began airing a television
ad in New Hampshire and South Carolina attacking
Howard Dean's commitment to defending America. The
group is headed by a Democratic contributor, and the
press secretary is a former aide to one of Dr.
Deanâ?Ts rivals. Using the image of Osama bin Laden,
it is the kind of fearmongering attack weâ?Tve come to
expect from Republicans and panders to the worst in
voters. I'm writing to call on each one of you to
condemn this despicable ad and demand it be pulled
from the airwaves.

12. Who knows? I thought we'd find out today.
But I'll bet the people responsible for the ad are doing everything in their power at this point to avoid detection--EVERYTHING.

14. It was an add that suggested Dean was weak on national security because
he was against the war in Iraq.

They used Osama's image to :scared: voters into submission. It was dirty b/c Dean could have had to face * with a record of Dems calling him weak on defense...it was a total crock, and I won't vote for anyone who took part in it.

I am and always have been ABB, but I could not bring myself to vote for anyone that would put there own selfish political interests before the interests of the country.

I just watched it. That was indefensible. I anxiously await confirmation of which campaign put up that garbage.

11. According to Trippi today, no.
That's what he said on CNN earlier. Something like "we still don't know who" put that ad up.

Wonder if it was the same group that was doing the robo-calling in NH late at night, claiming to be from Dean's campaign?

Like many said after 9*11: find out who benefits, and you may find who's responsible.

22. I've been waiting to find this out for a while now...
It will be very interesting to find out who financed and made donations to "Americans for Jobs, Healthcare, and Progressive Values", because it will be payback time.

I have a hard time believing that most of the donors wouldn't have known what the money would be used for, so if for example some labor unions made donations to this group, those unions should be targeted for a replacement of their "old guard" leadership with some real progressives.

If any companies made donations, it's boycott time.

We already know that one of the people behind this group was Ed Feighan, former Ohio congressman. He was the machine-anointed candidate for Cleveland, Ohio mayor in 1977 and lost the primary to the insurgent candidate, Dennis Kucinich, much to the chagrin of the corrupt party machine! He lost his House seat as a result of the House check kiting scandal of the early 1990s. He is also best known for being the original sponsor of the Brady Bill in the House. He's exactly the sort of person the Democratic Party needs to be rid of, but his political career is probably already over because of the check kiting scandal. In any case this should be the final blow to his political career, and if he is not persona non grata in the Democratic Party after this, he should be.
