Dean just lost the gun vote.
He called Gun owners "nuts." Yep, that will play well.

1. No, He Did Not Call Gun Owners 'Nuts'
He said (paraphrasing) NRA leaders or members who think it's okay to have an Uzi on the front lawn are nuts.

5. Seeing how he has an A rating from NRA leaders....
I don't think that statement will do anything but give his opponents more ammunition against him.

10. If They Distort Was He Said
Yes, one could call that ammunition.

How many gun owners do you know who keep Uzis mounted on their windowsill?

13. Who are the people who that advocate....

legalizing uzis?

I follow the gun issue closely and I never have heard any politician (excluding libertarians) advocate removing the 1934 firearms act that made machine gun ownership illegal (for the most part).

Often, I hear politicians who want more gun control use the uzi/ak47 arguement to push for new gun laws that have nothing to do with uzis...in fact, it would be difficult to pass new laws on uzi's because they already are illegal.

I will wait to see the full quote before I rush to judgement on this, but if it turns out to be true, then Dean has lost one supporter.

7. On behalf of the "N" faction I have to say I agree with him
Leaving any weapon unattended on the front lawn would be a nutty thing to do.

6. MTP
He said (again, paraphrasing) the average gun owners are good people, NRA members & leaders who want a free-for-all are nuts.

3. Actually that "N" word works like the more infamous "N" word
As long as the conversation is civil and it's one "N" calling another "N" an "N" nobody gets upset.

4. no, he didn't
he called the leadership of the NRA "nuts" and then proceeded, in the NEXT SENTENCE, to say that most members of the NRA are not nuts -- what's your motivation here?

12. He said NRA is going to endorse Bush.
His comments in the posts above came in response to Russert's asking about NRA opposition to Brady bill and other extreme positions, and asking Dean if he agrees with those.

I think he's doing a great job on MTP.

There is absolutely no indication of where you heard this or what the context was.
