Dean didn't tell the truth about Roy Neel.
Dean said that Neel hasn't been a lobbyist for 4 years. Records show that's not true. Neel registered as a Lobbyist in May of 2001. Did Dean intentionally not tell the truth or does he not know what's going on in the campaign?

5. Proof that he lobbied?
That's just proof that he registered to lobby...

Thanks.

11. Um, you have to file reports.
That say, basically, "I didn't lobby today, thanks."

29. Umm ..
Please go back to the top post.

It makes a charge and offers what the poster call evidence.

The so-called evidence offers no evidence whatsoever to back up the case.

No more, no less.

30. All we're asking for is hard proof that he actually lobbied.
Not that he's a lobbiest, Dean himself admitted that. But that he's actually out there lobbying. There would be a paper trail, but apparently everyone just wants to spout hearsay.

10. He registered three years ago just to sit on his hands?
Besides that, read that letter. He filed a mid year report in 2002.

12. Yep. It would have been insane for him not to keep registered

19. Pls google "Roy Neel Lobbies For Whom?"
Here is but one of MANY answers you will find:

Who Is Roy Neel?

With the news that Dean has dumped Trippi for longtime Gore adviser Roy Neel, I decided to to a little digging on Google.

He's a lobbyist.

A telecom lobbyist

CNN bio of Neel describes him thusly:

Neel, another longtime Gore staff member, stayed with Gore throughout his tenure in the House and Senate and became Gore's chief of staff in 1993 when Gore became vice president. Neel was known as Gore's chief adviser on telecommunications issues and he left the White House later in 1993 to become president of the U.S. Telecom Association, where he lobbies on issues relating to telecommunications policy on behalf of the Baby Bells.

Tom Paine.com criticized Neel as part of "Washington's revolving door"

But while the vice president's official headquarters is in Nashville, he has not shed his longtime associates, many of whom work as high-priced lobbyists on K Street. They have enjoyed the advantages of the revolving door. They worked with Gore in the White House or on Capitol Hill and are now selling their access, or at least the appearance of that access, to corporate clients. Three of them - Peter Knight, John M. "Jack" Quinn and Roy Neel - are all former Gore chiefs of staff and now are wealthy lobbyists.

6. It seems
there is a misunderstanding here.

Neel BEGAN as a lobbyist in 2001; not ended as one. Presumably he started his new career immediately after Bush was selected over his former employer, Gore.

4. Just because someone registered as a lobbyist doesn't mean they lobbied
From what I gathered from his statements, Neel did not lobby in Washington at any point. Even if he did, it would be irrelevent because he is just an employee of Dean for America. Dean's money is coming from people like me, so the people are the only ones Dean owes anything to.

7. Exactly, the quote Bleachers7 left out was...
...something along the lines of (said by Dean), "He's a lobbiest, but he didn't lobby, he stuck to his ethics pledge."

Yet Bleachers7 here would happily not provide us with evidence that he actually lobbied.

But what I was saying that Dean said that Neel stopped lobbying 4 years ago. The truth is that he registered to lobby less than 3 years ago.

And you all made fun when Dean supporters showed a negative Kerry campaign sign. Oh my.

14. Oh, gee whiz -
let me think....uses a Washington lobbyist, off by one year when he says how long it's been....

Skull and Bones, ruling elite, vain, narcissist, campaign tactics that would do the BFEE proud, looks VERY strange now....

Nah, I'll stay with Dean. But thanks! Fellow Dean supporters, I have rated this as a $20 thread. Go to http://www.deanforamerica.com to contribute $20 in honor of this thread, and thank Bleachers for being such a swell guy!

I just looooooove you, Bleachers7!

27. Post 19 would appear to make assumptions because Mr. Neel
was *registered* It doesn't mean he actually lobbied Washington.

Most people assume if your a registered lobbiest you in fact lobby, to my understanding this is not the case with Mr. Neel

I hardly think being honest about his new CEO is a big dean priority here.
