"C'mon Paulie baby -- we stab your back, you stab their backs..."
"...and it all works out in the end. Badda-bing, badda-boom. We do this kinda thing all the time! Be a sport, Paulie baby, and renege on your promise to the guys who wanted to get the Dem nomination to run against Jean Schmidt. You take this "honesty" thing a little too seriously. C'mon, listen to your Uncle Rahm and Uncle Chuckie. Hey, Paulie baby, where ya goin...?"

That's how I feel about this whole thing.

1. It's like the liberty v. security issue to me.
It's not worth being secure if you have to give up your liberty to do it.

It's not worth winning if you have to lie, cheat and steal to do it.

2. Benjamin Who?
Oh....Benjamin Franklin. A man wise beyond his time.

He who forgoes liberty for the sake of security, deserves neither.

4. Paul Hackett was supposed to be on Ed Schulz this afternoon
Ed is hopping mad over this, and said on his program that he wanted to have the Dem Senators call him and explain themselves. He said Paul was going to be on later, but I missed it as I was driving home at the time, and I only listen via computer. Anyone out there hear the interview?

6. Yeah, I did...
I'd sum it up this way: he sounded incredibly frustrated, and said "it came down to money".

I don't want to do a blow by blow because I'm sure I'll mischaracterize something and people will swarm this post like bees on honey. I'm sure the Ed Shultz show will have it up soon for people to comb through...

Honestly, Hackett sounded like he wanted to talk to Ed off the air...

8. You can bandy about figures that show him to be the reincarnation
of Eleanor Roosevelt, but the bottom line is he sat on his ass, safe and secure in his House District, until Paul Hackett showed Dwwine's weakness. For Paul Hackett's troubles, he got stabbed in the back. Politics is a rough tough game, not for the faint hearted, but it doesn't mean I have to forget how the candidates got to where they are.

I can understand Harry Reid and Schumer doing what they did. If Paul Hackett lost to DeWine, no one would pound them on the back and say what swell fellows they are. They made a choice that they think is better for the Democratic Party.
Still, what do truth and bravery matter? Not much these days.
