Was anyone else at Dean's appearance in Seattle today? -- supporters only
Hi,

We're getting ready to go to bed, but I am still so excited about Dean's appearance in Seattle today!

There are not many people, let alone candidates, I would stand outside in line for over an hour in rain for. It was tremendous to see him, and he gave a great speech.

Were you there? What did you think about the crowd? (The line wrapped the block twice by the time we finally got to the door at 3:00 PM; the people still streamed in to the two "overflow" areas to listen to the speech.)

Julie

1. Hi JulieRB
I was getting ready to head for a bus when the downpour started. I've had a miserable cold so I talked myself out it, thinking I would be stuck in a line anyway...what a wimp,eh?

I was there in spirit! Let me know about your experience...did you get inside? I know that building doesn't hold more than a few hundred, as that is where my agency holds its all-staff meetings.

I wish I had been there, instead of lying on my couch with my cat, watching the rain pour outside...

2. We had a great time!
I'm sorry to hear that you have a cold, Sierra Moon. I hope that you're feeling better today!

The crowd was huge. (We took digital pictures and will forward them to the Blog For America.) The line wrapped the building twice; unbelievably, almost everyone seemed to get in. The upstairs seating area was packed, so those of us who didn't get in stood in the lobby and in the basement, listening to the speech on the PA. Howard Dean also came out to greet those standing in the lobby prior to going upstairs. The cheering was deafening!

His speech was on health care; he also took questions from several people in the audience. My husband says he hasn't decided whom to vote for, but just asked me to order him an "I'm Howard Dean's Special Interest" T-shirt to wear to Saturday's caucus.

We hope we'll see you at the next Dean event!

Julie

3. Thanks, Julie
It got a pretty good write-up in this morning's Seattle Times.
I'm surprised that almost everyone got inside. I wish I had been there! Next time for sure...

I guess I'm not surprised that the Times endorsed Lieberman this morning. That newspaper has gotten so uninspired, editorial-wise, the past few years.

Have a good Superbowl Sunday! I am hunkered down with my box of kleenex, my cat, and the New York Times. And DU of course!
