Democrats are quietly winning - even with DIEBOLD !
Saw these two great articles on the FowardTogether site and wow, who knew?!? I checked the voting method they use in the area of New Hampshire where this race was held - and they use Diebold. I didn't check the voting method in the Virginia race.

New Hampshire Dems are On a Roll! ~~ :kick:

On Tuesday, the Democratic candidate for the NH House, Penn Brown, defeated her Republican opponent by a wide margin. The win increased the Democrats winning streak to 7 out of the last 8 special elections in New Hampshire since the 2004 election, and increased the number of Democrats in the NH House to 152. Congratulations to the NHDP and the Rockingham County Democrats for the big win.

Democrat Wins Special Election in Virginia ~~ :kick:
Congratulations to former Loudoun County Supervisor Mark Herring who won a seat in the Virginia State Senate (District 33) defeating Loudoun Supervisor D.M. "Mick" Staton, Jr., the protege and son-in-law of former Delegate Dick Black. Unofficial results show Herring garnering 12,379 (61%) votes to Staton's 7,688 (39%).

This district was vacated by Senator Bill Mims, who resigned to take a position in the Attorney General of Virginia's office.

This continues the trend of Democrats doing well in the exurbs of Virginia. Governor Tim Kaine won Loudoun County this past fall, which is traditionally a Republican area.

This is also good news for Democrats in Virginia, who have already picked up 1 seat in a special election this month in the House of Delegates (57-40-3) and now picked up a seat in the Senate (23-17).

Hmm.. Either Diebold is finally sick of Republicans.. or that Diebold dude who's running for senate in VA has already manipulated the machines our way.. http://eliteleague.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/lol!.gif

Hey. It could happen.

2. I doubt they'd try for most special elections.

...too much risk at getting caught in small races where there's not enough confusion to hide amid.

But it is very encouraging.

Not too long before we get to put this to the test -- will all the extra attention being payed by some Secretaries of State and BOE administrators shield their communities? Will the whole fraud contraption come apart at the foundation when faced with a sea change?

All I know is I plan to donate and to campaign and to vote and to keep an eye peeled.

3. We'll be testing Diebolds on April 4th...
in Anchorage. And with all the problems they had with the last election, it will be REALLY interesting to see how the mayor's race turns out.

The Democratic Mayor --> has the HIGHEST approval ratings on record.. (or at least, since approval records were taken according to the media)

And he's running against an old cranky fart who is famous for the "shrimp and prawn" commercials he done here for years.. If the "shrimp dude" wins over an incredibly popular mayor.. something is seriously up with the Diebolds!

8. Excellent!
Democrats had great success in state legislative races this year, even as they performed poorly in the presidential race and campaigns for Congress. Many Democratic gains came in the heart of Republican territory.

Colorado Democrats took control of both the House and Senate for the first time since 1974. Montana Democrats won the state Senate and could control the state House, depending on the outcome of a legislative race that finished in a tie and is the subject of a court battle.

Overall, Democrats took power in seven legislatures and earned a tie in the Iowa Senate. Republicans won control in four chambers and added legislators in southern states that have been shifting to the party for 20 years.

Nationwide, Democrats added more than 60 legislative seats, reversing the 2002 results that gave Republicans more state legislators than Democrats for the first time in a half century.

Democratic state legislators now outnumber Republicans by two: 3,658 to 3,656. A pair of undecided races could leave it tied.

"It was like a hidden election," says Tim Storey, political analyst at the National Conference of State Legislatures. "The result was remarkable and not easy to explain."

Diebold targeted the presidency. DeLay corruption and media endorsed smear targeted the Congress. look at how many Congressional Republicans across the country are linked to corruption.

9. Great news! I am feeling guardedly optimistic right now.
I'm somewhat confused about how much of a factor black box voting is. Maybe the Repukes are starting to eat their own. But anyway, thanks for sharing the terrific info larissa!!
