Petition for the Release of Jill Carroll

On January 7th of this year, 28 year-old freelance reporter Jill Carroll was abducted in Baghdad, Iraq. Since this time Carroll has appeared twice on video pleading for the America government to fulfill the demands of her captures, to release all female Iraqi prisoners. The American government’s strict no-negotiation policy leaves Ms. Carroll fate in a precarious situation. On February 10th Ms Carroll’s holders set a deadline of February 26th to have their demands met or they will take Ms Carroll’s life. The people of the world must band together and petition for the safe release of Jill Carroll. Please sign this petition, respectfully asking for the safe release of Jill Carroll, in hopes that her holders will feel they have accomplished enough by gaining the attention and concern of the world.

1. I was almost going to say this on the LBN thread but...

The kidnappers must be, well, you could almost call them insulted at the lack of attention to them and their inability to make political hay over this hostage. She's a real human being and it's a travesty that she's being treated this way. Feels like rightly or wrongly the government's just going to ignore this until they get bored and finally sever her head. I'm sorry to say that but, it feels like that's exactly the dynamic at work here...

If enough people sign a petition, I believe it could influence her kidnappers. But a 100 or a 1000 signatures won't do. The petition needs at least 10,000 or more like 100,000 signatures to make a impact but it could happen.

8. Its not a petition asking to give in to demands, it's a petition

respectfully asking the holders of Ms. Carroll for her release, and we're hoping a large number of signatures from around the world may influence them to release her with a message to the world instead of making her death the message.
