The rudest people I've ever talked to:
The RNC!!! They just called my house asking to speak my father (a real fundie). They then asked me to join the RNC. I could not believe how polite I was, but said no thank you. The dumb wench kept reading from her script, even after I told her I was not interesed 5 times. She kept going and then lectured me on how evil Democrats were. I was so angry, I asked for a supervisor who then only echoed the caller's talking points. I called my dad and he said he would get to the bottom of it. I encouraged him to never donate to them again. He only laughed. Maybe I can work on him some more.

1. If they were rude to you,
that might be enough. Sounds silly, but I know folks who have swallowed the rw line until some winger has been rude to someone. That action somehow opens their eyes.

2. I can't believe that Republicans fall for such bully tactics.
The only ones on the left side who have given me a really hard time were the Larouche people.

8. Uh, LaRouche is slightly to the RIGHT of Attilla the Hun
You've got your wings a bit confused. Granted, he started out as a way-lefty, but he transformed himself to a far-rightie faster than Christopher Hitchens could say "I'll have another--and this time, make it a double!!!!"

Instructive article here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/longterm/cult/larouche/main.htm

....The story of how Lyndon LaRouche transformed himself from Marxist theoretician to red-white-and-blue conservative in 10 years is a tale of a political chameleon.

He has taken with him on his ideological journey a worldwide organization that follows his every instruction and mimics his every political twist and turn, according to interviews with former LaRouche associates and experts on the group, as well as the group's internal documents.

LaRouche "leads what may well be one of the strangest political groups in American history," the conservative Heritage Foundation said in a report. "LaRouche has managed to attract a small but fanatical following to his conspiratorial view of the world." ....

3. I think many Rethugs
mistake rudeness for strenght and common courtesy for weakness.

10. My father-in-law is a living example of this.
I cannot believe his behavior to strangers and family alike. He is aggressive, bullying, overbearing, boorish, sexist, racist, and I am grateful every day that his son, my husband, survived the childhood abuse and became the compassionate loving man that he is today. I am fortunate, too, that they live far enough away to limit visits to 2-3 times a year.

This man equates discourtesy with humor, one of those "I'm kidding you," type of guys. One of these days I might pop off and surprise the old man by unleashing my tongue. He's also the kind that will back down when confronted. I only restrain myself because I love my MIL, and I love my husband who wants only for his father to live his last years in whatever reality-denying peace he can.

I'm venting right now because my FIL and MIL are visiting right now... and I'm counting the days.

6. do you have their caller ID number?
Call the call center back and tell them you are interested in finding out who to contact to use their services . . . you know, name of their company (if third party subcontract) the usual stuff, name, phone number, email address . . .

OR, the next time they call, just pull out all the stops and call them every nasty thing you've ever wanted to call a neocon republican to their face. It won't have any impact on the terminally stupid, but it will certainly make you feel better about giving them a little instant karma right back.

7. I have a relative who screws with them for PURE sport
You would think, after a time, that they would scratch that phone number off their list....but NOOOOO!!! They are the gift of amusement that keeps on giving!!

When they call and ask for a donation, the response is usually something like "Well, I lost all my savings with that ENRON thing, so I don't have much to spare...." or "Well, I lost my job, and the unemployment is running out, so I can't afford to send anything..." or "They took away my health insurance, so I have to pay out of pocket now--I can maybe send a dollar or two if I eat cat food this week..." or whatever the hot news topic happens to be.

The goal is to keep them on the phone, explaining themselves, for as long as possible, all the while playing a clueless nitwit. If they are screwing around trying to get money out of someone who will not give them a dime, that's time away from getting cash from idiots who will give the bums money. It's a patriotic duty!!!

12. Sounds like fun.
I think that if I saw their number on the caller ID I would fire up an ebaums world soundboard. Imagine thier surprise if they were talking to "the dude", dr. phil, or even Ahh-nold!

13. They called here too and were rude and manipulative
My mom and dad are registered as republicans but my mom is no longer one. She hasn't had time to change her party affiliation (she said she was going to change to indie probably) and they called here in 2004. They first told her thank you for the donation and if she'd like to donate again. My dad doesn't donate to anything except if it's something with church (like with Katrina he donated some for a campaign we did to help out than) so my Mom knew this person was lying to her. They have called back one other time asking her how Bush was doing for a poll and of course she said awful. She said she wished she told them she voted for Kerry but didn't think about it until after she hung up.

14. I challlenge them
On the incredibly rare occasions one mistakenly dials my number, I turn the call right around on them and force them to defend Republicanism. Just pick your favorite topic and ask them why why why. They're never prepared to address the real issues, most have no clue anyway. You'll never get the same caller twice, I guarantee that.
