Idea for Dean supporters
I've just been thinking about the TV news and getting steamed up again, and decided to blast them with some complaints. I wrote to FAUX, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS with the following letter:

<start>

Thanks for proving once again that our valiant media watchdogs aren't interested in anything more than character assassination.

As you are aware, the famous 15 seconds of the Howard Dean Iowa concession speech were played over and over and over and over again, just about every 15 minutes on every major TV news outlet, for the entire week between the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primaries. The tape showed Dr. Dean rallying his campaign workers in an exuberant speech, followed by a yell. You media people immediately jumped on it as “un-Presidential” and “over the top”. And played it and played it and played it – without any context.

An investigation by ABC news later found that Dr. Dean was in a large very noisy hall with 3500 campaign workers and volunteers. A tape made from within the hall found that he couldn’t even be heard over the noise of the crowd. So much for the so-called “scream”. ABC’s tepid apology actually got aired after Dean had already lost the NH primary. Even Pat Buchanan tonight admitted that the media coverage of the speech was very poorly done.

So, thanks for showing your true colors in torpedoing an excellent candidate who means to do everything he can to help the American people. Of course helping the American people may mean some re-regulation of media…

OH! MY! Would media regulation bother you? How silly of me. How could ordinary Americans have the cheek to think they can choose and elect their own candidates without first obtaining the blessing of the mighty “news” media?

I’ll tell you one thing.

You guys can lie, distort, fail in your public trust, buy politicians and FCC regulators, and steal our public airwaves, but I’m through.

I will no longer watch your “news”.

I will not listen to your pundits.

I will not buy the products advertised. I will not help you make any money. I will not enable your destruction of our American democracy.

I’m pulling the plug on my cable TV. End of story. I’m writing to all the Dean supporters I know and encouraging them to do the same.

You are an absolute disgrace.

<end>

Anyway, folks, if you have the inclination let 'em have it. You can email to them or write letters.

It isn't just about Dean, because look at them starting on Kerry. And remember Al Gore. And numerous others. Clobber the TV news idiots.

1. Good letter
I agree that Dean was unfairly skewered for that speech. I was watching it live and I did take notice. It was a little over the top for my taste, but certainly didn't deserve the endless ad nauseum coverage that it got for the next several days.

4. did you see how indignant and confused Begala got over Dean
not having Cable TV? Was it Begala or Carville, same thing these days I guess. Anyway whichever one it was got all bent out of shape because Judy Dean said they didn't have cable TV... as if you couldn't be informed if you didn't watch their garbage network.
Yours is a very good idea. I think I will do the same. I will be keeping my cable modem though. :)
